Well when i was growing up, i used to on disney channel, and find stuff that was genuinely funny! I mean the old play house disney, with rollie pollie ollie, and P B and J, out of the box, and stuff like that was actually interesting (for a kid i mean). then as i got older they showed stuff like house of mouse, good to see disney sticking to the mickey mouse roots, then came shows likeEven stevens (prob funniest show of dis ever), and even though it was a girl show, i even found lizzie mcguire to be kinda good! And finally came Thats so raven, which was funny as hell until Tanya left. Thats when it all went downhill. phil of the future, was Ok, but Hannah montanah was crap, suit life is really funny but what happened to disney. All the shows are like stereotypical american shows, Whats up! they removed mickey mouse, goofy, donald, they scraped them and for what! who ever thinks that something is wrong tell me! how!

I agree. I remember watching "Your Friend in the Dark" with my 7 year old son. Before "That's so Raven" every Disney Channel show I wanted to watch. "Boy Meets World" was good, and "The Jersey" was the only flaw. Now a days, there are shows that are NOT worth watching. For example, "Cory in the House" (spin off), "Hannah Montana", and (SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ IF DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT NEW SHOW ON DISNEY) now in November they have Arwin from the Suite Life quitting at The Tipton and to make a new spin off show called "Arwin!" I can't wait for it! (If you couldn't figure it out I'm being sarcastic) Now I'd rather throw up in a toilet then watch Disney Channel shows.

And whoever said about Disney Channel going to the tweens they are definitely right. I was flipping the channels the other day and there was discussion of a bra on Hannah Montana. (Achey Jakey Heart Part 1) Awkward isn't it?

That "Mickey Mouse" (literally) stuff has been largely moved to Toon Disney, a separate channel. (God.. I can't believe I'm answering this question!)

Disney Channel has now marketed itself to the 'tweens.... I swear Michael Eisner has a secret underground lab somewhere with the next generation of TV Teens simmering in test tubes, who will be boyish looking enough to playing teenagers well into their mid 30's.

Or they will get Britney and Hilary Duff's parents to keep spawning so there's a ready crop of perky, overly developed little blond girls to star in shows.

Even back in the Annette days on the Mickey Mouse club teens have been a big part of the Disney audience, but the classic 'toon characters were still popular. Now it seems that kids must think the cartoon characters passe and must have "real" people in "real-life" stories.

Kinda sad if you ask me....

Maybe that's why Roy Disney is fighting to get the company back. ABC has taken over in todo.

Viva la Ratón!

I'll have to be the only one to disagree with you - I saw those earlier shows on Disney Channel and they just made me impatient, restless and I felt they were just pimping Disney products and brainwashing the youth viewing the material.

I know everyone says Hannah Montana is great and everyone on this Answer doesn't like her - I'm comfortable with that, it's targeted to a specific crowd.

However, Hannah Montana is, in fact, a very sophisticated show. If one can watch closely, you can see the fundamental theme of Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper woven directly into the program. The writers have taken the best from classic television shows (like LaVerne and Shirley or the Brady Bunch or Gilligans Island or Green Acres - which were ripping off Shakespeare themes of 12th Night and Midsummer Nights Dream) and have woven them into the shows.
It is serious brilliant writing - simply targeted to a younger audience.
One can accept that the acting is youthful, this comes with the genre - I doubt those actors understand what the broad stroke of the scripts are - but believe me, the core writers for Hannah Montana rival the scripts of any classic entertainment in the history of television.

Based on the shows that introduced you to the Disney Channel are about 8 years after I first started watching it. Believe me, it doesn't matter what had played you will have thought the old stuff was awesome and all the new stuff sucks. I'm sure your parents had something to say about what you watched as compared to Looney Toons or Scooby Doo. I'm sure your shows looked like utter garbage and theirs were great. I'm afraid this is really just part of becoming old, you hate everything new and remember everything old as being awesome. I should know, I think your entire list of things that were awesome are utter trash. I guarantee it that the kids who are watching these new shows today will in eight years say that the new stuff is crap and their stuff was awesome. It's inevetable.

Actually, they brought mickey & co back to playhouse disney - he's just computer animated now.

I think what happened is you grew up - the stuff that you would have liked is now to immature for you. Disney is still appealing to the young ones, the popularity of High School Musical displays that.

I know! It definitely isn't like it was when I was a kid. I hate all the shows on the Disney channel now!

I have no idea what they were thinking. I used to love it, but now it's got so many annoying TV shows that I really don't enjoy watching. The movies even were good, but now...don't even get me started on the movies these days. Yeah, I have to agree with you. There's something very wrong with it.
