No Snape's patronus was a doe - that was Lily's also.
It was showing after all these years Snape still loves Lily.
That's kinda of why Snape was staring into Harry's eyes when he died and gave him his pensive - Harry's eyes look just like Lily's.

he conjures the Silver Doe- which is his love for Lily. Although James had tortured him, and Lily (who was his best friend on earth and he loved so much) chose James over him- he loved her so much that he would do anything to care for a part of her- Harry was the only living part of her- even now, 16 years after she died, his patronus still reflects his love for Lily (Harry's is the silver stag like his father- but maybe we're to guess the Silver Doe was also Lily's?) I think he hates the idea that HP is James' kid, but can't put aside how much he loved HP's mom. In the 7 books so far, we had never seen Snape throw his patronus, so when it shows up in the forest, none of us know whose patronus it is. Wasn't there something about your patronus being a reflection of your true self (back in the book where we find out about patronuses?)
I was always hoping he wasn't bad. My hubby and I both agree that the Snape part of the book was the best part- I can't wait til they get to the movie of it- I can't wait to see Rickman play thru that part (although there will probably also be a child actor or teen playing him )

I think Kevin K's got the answer. Snape's patronus was the same as Lily's, throughout everything. He ALWAYS loved her. He never really cared much for Harry, but as Harry was Lily's, it could be supposed that he cared for Harry by default....but it is Snape. I'd say it was all about Lily.

Oh no, he has always hated Harry. But he loved Lily Potter and the doe represents her because it was her patronus. After all this time, he protects Harry for her and only her. That's why when he wants Harry to look at him, so he can see her eyes in the end.

I think it means that he always loved Lily, even after she died. I remember somewhere it says that the patronus can represent love because it comes from a happy memory. Since Snapes patronus was a doe which Lily's was, that represents that he still loved her.

I think so. He was always saving Harry's life. Whether it was just because of his feelings for Lily or another reason it seemed like on some level he did care about Harry.
I was positive he did until I saw an interview with JKR and she said he loathed Harry. So after that I was like, Wait? What?

when Snape answered..."for him?" and he conjured his patronus it's not because he cares about harry
it's becausehe loves Harry's mother LILY..he has the same patronus as LILY.

Yes, Snape has declared he actually has cared for Harry. He had treated him badly as so Draco and the other Death Eater children wouldn't suspect something. Well, that's what I'm thinking anyway.
