The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is attempting to protect immigrants (legal and illegal), refugees and non-citizens from the bias of those who try to dump everyone into classifications -- such as indicating that all Blacks are ignorant, lazy and stupid, which is not true.

Unfortunately, sometimes they get a little OVER zealous -- which is why we have other organizations against them -- to keep them in check.

No. They are not evil -- unless you call defending the constitution and protecting civil liberties to be evil (which, sadly, many people seem to do).

The stated goal of the ACLU is to defend the Bill of Rights -- particularly the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments.

Because such constitutional violation necessarily involve govt conduct, they take cases where an individual has their civil rights violated by that govt conduct.

They think they are protecting everyone's civil liberties -- and they are. Because any time the govt (local, state or federal) is allowed to ignore the constitution, that is a threat to everyone because it is govt abuse of power.

The reason they are unpopular is that many of their cases are unpopular. It's easy to defend someone's civil liberties if you like them or agree with them. It's a lot harder to justify defending someone's constitutional rights when you don't like them, or when you think the govt should be allowed to break the law.

Personally, while I don't often agree with their interpretation of the law, I am proud to support the ACLU because it serves a necessary purpose -- to protect the people from govt abuses of power and to cry 'foul' when the govt violates the constitution.

But then, I believe in the concept of civil liberty and personal freedom, and I oppose govt control over individual choice.

Who are they trying to protect?

Well, for one, ACLU was the ONLY group to defend Rush Limbaugh against an overzealous prosecutor who, it turned out, overreached to obtain Limbaugh's private medical records.

The ACLU did that, because despite what you have been taught, it doesn't have a political agenda other than trying to force government and large corporations to obey the law.

Of course Limbaugh was furious, but at the same time grateful that ACLU stepped in, seeing has how none of his loyal ditto-heads chipped in one single dime for his defense.

Evil? No!

Misguided? Definitely.

Just way over-zealous, I say. I believe we sometimes need someone to fight for the underdog. But sometimes I just want to smack my head into the wall when I hear about something the ACLU's doing.

They used to defend the civil liberties of all people, but it now seems that they defend liberal viewpoints. When New York transit wanted to search peoples bags randomly, there was a huge roar of disapproval from aclu. If you go to the offices of nyclu, there`s a sign out front warning that you are subject to have your bags searched, hypocrits.

Ooooo, someone said fact LOL... Please. The ACLU is a pathetic attempt to enforce crap law. Things like EEO, AA and other idiotic laws meant to keep telling people how unable they are to keep up with everyone else. True equality will not exist until the ACLU and all the other groups like it go away.

There goal seems to be to destroy this country. They seem to back all the wrong reasons.
They must be affiliated with the One Worlder's who want to dilute our power and surrender our sovereignty.
