my ex who has no fashion sense gave me a disgusting plastic heart necklace for my birthday and i would like to do something funny/terrible to it with my friend burning is not an option... what could i try

You might assume for a moment that if it was given AFTER the fact (EX) it might have been a sarcastic event.
If you accepted the necklace in a lie, then you can rid yourself of it the same way.
At the very least it sounds like the persons HEART was in the right place...LOL.
Give it to some young girl, they enjoy all manner of that type of adornment. Why destroy it? Might you assume that revenge is as sweet as the gifting might have been intended to be? It seems to me,,,NO offense at all, that you're young... I suggest you'll all get over each other.

Get over it. If you are doing nutty things to crap he gave you, maybe you aren't over him? Best thing to do is stop thinking about him completely. That way he has no control of you, your life, or what you do.
