I was in the market today and in front of me was a welfare fat not english speaking person cashing there WIC check. This took 15 minutes as she did that and paid with the welfare check. In her cart was cheese, 5 bottles of soda and jello. I took my groceries to my car and she was getting in a better car then I have. Am I wrong to feel angry about this?

Why would you question your self you are right on for being angry.

For the bleeding heats who say well there might be more than meets the eye.
I help people who come here through the front door and some have come from places where torture is torture, not putting a Koran down the toilet.
And these people who come through the front door are hard working with great educations most of them. Some have done the worst jobs (Americans don’t want to do) BS. But they do and take no hand outs as they have pride and wan to be come Americans and know what many here have forgotten what we have. They work up and many are now Doctors and scientist and heads of large companies. Yes they work the low pay but save and build to what they can be the best they can be.
Now the person you ran into is most likely a illegal Mexican who is living on welfare that both parties what to give amnesty too and turn this in tone big Mexico and not eh United States of America home of the brave and free.

Would say where ever you are this plays out every day and it has to me and instead of letting them get away with it I have said I am calling the immigration on them and see how fast they run when you get their plate number. Them tell them F----- Them.
People who want to bring goodness and do and do it the legal way are welcome but the others get the hellllllll out.

Make the vote count and make each politician count and hear our voice.

No you're not bad to feel animosity for that situation. However knowing people who also happens to use WIC that is food, and milk for children, and mom. Milk, eggs, cheese, and peanut butter I believe. So WIC doesn't allow the purchasing of those items. I'm wondering if it wasn't food stamps or a food stamp card instead. Only because WIC does send cards, but there are specific items listed on those cards that those people can get.

added -
Well the welfare card would explain why she got the other stuff. There are no limitations for what they can use those for except one. And that is no hot food purchases.

I am sorry if you took offense to my response. I meant no disrespect to you. Or your description of the situation you had experienced.

I was in buying groceries myself (purchasing with a personal check) and the person in front of me used the new welfare card. First time I had seen it since they stopped using food stamps, as the change they used to get back from those they bought what they weren't allowed to buy using the food stamps. Anyway - the clerk and I began to talk about the new welfare cards. He told me that people using those cards were buying $9 dollar a pound lobster every week with it. H*ll Nicole, I'd like to be able to buy $9 dollar a pound lobster every week. Told the clerk that too, and he agreed. So I completely understand where you're coming from on the issue.

And the party who used the expletive with you was being nasty towards you. I was thinking (as a guy) if they would have done that to me, I'd have smiled at them and responded with "That's what I thought". And had I been with you, I'd have probably clocked him for talking to a woman that way. They can talk to me anyway they wish. But to a woman (any woman) now that sets me off.

If I win the big lottery could I buy you dinner? A new car? Anything you'd like.

edit - Loathing - your own comment "these programs are in place for a reason."

True. However they were also set up for the American citizens. Not just everybody who happens into the country by legal or illegal means. Just because their countries don't have or offer these programs to them, doesn't mean that we have to. Or that these programs were to include them.

I agree for the reasons your friend needs the assistance. But Americans shouldn't be forced to feed and shelter everyone else from other countries. That's what charities are for. And Americans donate to those too. Myself included.

I guess it's fairly natural to feel that way as a knee-jerk reaction, but as they say... never judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

You don't know the full story of the woman's situation. It's possible the car wasn't even hers - who knows? I guess we should always try to have compassion for others no matter what.

But it doesn't make you a bad person to think like that - just human.

I will confess I was down on my luck with two children and having lost my Job with two kids, We had to go on medicaid for our children, and government subsidized housing, we were offered food coupons and child care which I did not accept, it is very tempting when they offer you thousands of Dollars.

We however did not give in to temptation and got ourselves out of the public aid in 1 year, Living in public housing we witnessed several people who were living in child care funds and food coupons, they would buy groceries from these coupons and return most of them at customer service as the Food Coupon receipt is printed as cash payment, they will get back cash.

Social Services are a good way for people to get back on their feet and feel that the government is there to help, but the problem is when people do not want to work and continue living on public aid.

I would not judge someone on just one experience.

perhaps. although most people im sure would feel the same way you do.

bottom line you have no idea what happened to this lady. maybe at one point she had money and lost everything in a fire. maybe her husband died and he was once the one who brought in the money.
you just dont know her and her unique situation.

i suppose the thing here is, dont be so quick to assume the worst in people. although im sure we all do at some point.

i can not help feel this way its BS one time I saw a person like this and told them who was hiring they responded with an F*** you
/*/*/

well who are you to inter fear with their affairs? and because you have one bad experience you are going to assume they are all bad? i mean really, wouldnt you get upset if for instance, you had on cheap looking clothes, and someone came up to you and said, hey abercrombie and fitch are having a sale you know...
wouldnt that piss you off? its not only rude, but none of your business.

i DO NOT agree with people leaching off the system, but you just dont know why, these programs are in place for a reason.
i know one woman in particular who collects WIC checks and food stamps, reason: because she had to flee her partner because he was physically abusive and attempted to kill her, she has no family and these programs helped her alot.
i suppose thats why i am not so quick to judge...

and yes you can help not feel this way,
by not assuming everyone who uses these programs are *******. drop the assumptions. its these kind of assumptions that promote racism and intolerance.

we should never judge people like that. since we don't know their circumstances.she could be borrowing that car.we should never judge people. since if we judge then we will be judged by God.try to have love in your heart as Jesus said to do.a lady was trying to cash a personal check for some food last month at the grocery.but the manager wouldn't let her.she started to cry. i gave her little son a twenty.then the manager changed his mind and the boy tried to give me back the twenty and i told him to keep it.
please keep love in your heart or you will be judged one day in heaven

NO, you're right to feel this way. When ever you see your tax dollars hard at work for the lazy, you have the right to be upset.
