so i'm going to be a sophomore in high school, and i'm transferring to a different school. i'm really nervous about meeting new friends/people! with my close friends i'm probably the most outgoing out of all of them! and i'm really loud and fun when you get to me. but i make horrible first impressions and always seem like i can't show my real self when i first meet someone! i usually get really shy, and i hate it because people don't know how fun i can really be!

any tips on how i can overcome the shyness so i can show my real self when i'm trying to meet new people?

please help because i want to make new friends without looking like i'm trying too hard!

You can view this as an opportunity or a crisis.
You sound like a positive person, just a bit scared.
Joining a club at school is great because it puts you in the room with other students and they usually have an agenda that means that you won't have to do all of the work of making friends and coming up with stuff to talk about.
Good Luck!

Yes, stand straight, shoulders back, head up. Just be yourself and you will make friends. Everyone is shy at first but then it doesn't hurt to lay back a bit and look the situation over so that you end up running around witht he kids you want to be with. Don't worry so much about everyone liking you so much as choosing the right friends. When you are comfortable around the ones you choose, you will open up a bit more-that's kinda the way it works for everyone. It gets easier with experience. Join some clubs or sports or band and you will have friends galore. You'll have lots to start talking about because you will have mutual interests. If you dwell on being shy, you'll make it come true--because you'll be thinking about that instead of what people are saying to you. Just listen and ask questions about what they are talking about and then they will be talking to you. . .and you're on your way. Don't Worry, Be Happy. . .

People will know that your the "New Kid" at school, but don't let it get to you. On your first day of school, just relax and take a deep breath. Most of the time when you are the new kid at a school someone will talk to you and try to make friends with you. I'm from a Navy family so I know what it's like being the new kid. If you just be yourself you will make friends.

Try to keep a pleasant attitude and a smile on your face. When you meet new kids tell them you are hoping to be good friends with them but try to get in with kids that are a lot like the ones from your old school, just treat the ones you don't hang out with good also. It will be fine. Don't sweat it until you get there, we usually dread the worst!

Read the book How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It might help you. Your public library probably has it.

just try and act like you normally do around old friends. I'm the same exact way and know how hard it can be. just try your best and maybe it'll work out! besides first impressions aren't permanent.

Just be yourself don't try to be like others cause if they start to like you then you would have to change. So just be yourself.
