i think its too long breastfeeding at 8yrs old. throughout the world, it is recommended to nurse up to 2yrs, in america to 1yr. if they lived in a 3rd world country where food was scarce, it would be more understandable. if youre starving, you have to do what you have to do. since this woman isnt from a starving country, i think its wrong and the children are going to be screwed up for life. they both say its the best thing and no one should ever stop. yuck (at their age). i nursed my daugher until she was 6 months old, partly because of choice and also because my daughter was no longer interested as she had began eating solid foods.

The point of this video, however extreme, is to show women who think it's okay, that it's enough (or even tell themselves that it's great) that they breastfed for a few weeks or a few months that they are kidding themselves- they actually did not in all honesty give their child the start they need and deserve. The AAP recommends breastfeeding for a minimum of one year, and the World Health Organization recommends at least two. The benefits and nutrients do NOT fade after any point, much less at one year as the poster above states. That's ludicrous. Breastmilk changes for each feeding, each & every day, and adapts to give your child optimal nutrition into toddlerhood. We would all be healthier if we drank breastmilk. We are not baby cows. Our country is just opposed to accepting breastfeeding as the norm, so it doesn't seem natural. But do your research, and you'll see it is what's best, for the first several years of your child's life. Most of the rest of the world has known this for many years. Unfortunately, the point of videos like these are often just seen as gross, rather than seen for the point they are trying to make.

I agree with you.. that an 8 yr old should have been weaned off the breast LONG time ago.
Most children who are from different cultures are breastfed til they are at a much older age than those in American countries. Not real sure why....
I can attest that my children were all raised on breast milk but were weaned off way before a year.
When they could start walking, I think is a time they need to be drinking from a bottle or cup and not mommies breast.
Love my kids but geez, lets keep our ladies in shape soon after they've been pulled and sucked on for months

I nursed my son until he was 2.5 years and I intend on nursing my current baby at least that long.
Look, the US is like the ONLY country in the world where nursing past 12 months isn't common. Why do you think that is? Why does EVERYONE else nurse until at least 2 years of age? Maybe they know something we don't.
How can breast milk be the most perfect food for you child for 364 days and then go rotten and sour on day 365? It's just silly reasoning.
Anyway, I looked at the scientific research and then followed my heart. I was astounded to learn that milk just improves in nutrition after the first year.
Children get the immunities as long as they nurse.
Their IQ goes up the longer they nurse.
Mom's risk of ovarian and breast cancer decreases the longer they nurse.
It's awesome. There's nothing like nursing a toddler.
Did you know that Michael Jordan the basketball player was nursed until 3? His mom credits his game to her nursing. Pele the soccer super star was nursed until 5. Although 8 seems like it's pushing it to me. There's a saying that no matter how long you nursed, someone always nursed longer and you think that's weird.
Most of all, the bond from nursing into childhood is incredible. I have the healthiest most independent child. He's bilingual and brilliant. I did that!

I don't think its extreme at all. In my opinion, I wouldn't do it when he starts getting teeth because then he would bite me and that would not be a good feeling. I started to breastfeed my 7 month old when he was born but it only lasted two weeks. I couldn't take the stress and him crying when he wouldn't latch on right so I started giving him bottles. You should do whats best for you and your boo boo. Now don't get me wrong, once he starts to talk and is able to lift your shirt himself is when you have to draw the line...lol. At six months he is still a baby so just ask your doctor if you're not sure. Good luck :)

i am a breastfeeding mom of a 12month old. i have no plans, weaning or keeping it going. it's all up to my daughter. i'm blessed to be able to stay home and give this time to my daughter. if she wants to breastfeed, that's what she gets. nothing wrong with it. actually did you know the world wide avg for weaning is around 4 yrs old? in my opinion, anything before 2 yrs is too young. just my humble opinion. but the kid will stop when he/she wants to.
kudos maegs33 and sarah, i think we're the only 3 on here who thinks nurturing her child the way God intended is a normal, natural thing (c'mon ya'll think boobs were made primarily for sex???! ) i feel sad for their kids ='(
'My husband would tell my children "they are my breasts to play with, enough is enough." '
That a father would say this is saddening...the father's sexual pleasure is more important than nurturing your children???
It's even more saddening that a mother would agree or joke about this kind of barbaric thinking.

you be conscious of what? That boy became being merely common impolite. Whats his subject? They have been being racist against you even nevertheless they're black. So it is plausible for one to be racist. I dont think of you have been. You have been merely asserting, which you particularly be well mannered, and of better standards and status than of decrease classification. i think of what you probably did became sensible, you have uncomplicated experience. And once you in comparison ghetto and white you never reported "identity particularly be white than black" yet you mustn't have reported "something he wanted it to indicate" because of the fact there are a great number of diffrent techniques of interpreting what you reported merely say what you quite ment to declare. Im 14 years previous. My college is the different. THere are greater whites than blacks, yet there is one black boy in our classification, it is alwasy accusing us of being racist. uncomplicated this could be a sparkling technology, This technology is the least racist out of any technology, and he's often impolite to the lecturers to, in the event that they %. on yet another scholars hand raised he says "its merely reason im black that she didnt %. me" Ive additionally met a marvelous black guy who has a large character. yet another Black female is definitely one of my maximum suitable acquaintances i think of right here it relies upon on the guy how they have been raised, and character.

6 months is normal, 8 years, a bit much. I know it's beneficial, I breastfed my little boy until he was 6 months and cut teeth. I couldn't imagine having a school aged child come up and want to breast feed.

This is perfectly normal. I breastfed my son for four months, and if I had had enough milk, I would have continued for a few more months. Breastfeeding will give your baby more antibodies. Enjoy this special bonding between mother and child and do not worry about some of society's narrow-minded attitudes.

I agree that that's a little extreme. After 2 years there is no nutritional benefits from breastmilk anyways so I'm not quite sure why they continue. It's actually disturbing. 8 years old is just too old.
