Several minutes ago I posted this question:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aqdyiwgk6O3e3nNnnGcENd7Y7BR.?qid=20070730202250AAGT2DF

And a bunch of you were quite upset about me making it a party issue. So the question is how was it a party issue?
It's just a link to a news story.

It was carried by a lot of news sites, Fox just was on the top.

I'm not backtracking on anything. If I were to post the question again I would post it the same way because I do personally see a trend. I'm 51 so I've seen a lot change.

I actually saw part of the story on my local station and went online to find the full story.

I wasn't talking about progressives, I was talking about a trend.

You said "Is this part of a progressive trend?" You may not have meant a specific political party with that, but since it's posted in politics rather than current events, it's not unreasonable to think you meant it that way.

Because in this day and age people are looking for reasons to be offended. Some perceive insult in any statement which is made no matter how innocuous it may be. Personally I didn't see the use of the word progressive as anything negative, but I grasped the context in which it was intended. One note though, you did post the question in the Politics sub-class. It might have been better placed in a Law sub-class and possibly received better, but I doubt it.

Hi Jeff.

In your post you stated: "Is this part of a progressive trend?" aka "liberal". So just say "I'm sorry" so that we can get back to the debate.

edit: This story was also carried on the Glenn Beck show this evening.

double edit: OHHHH I get it now. You are saying that you were stating that the trend seems to be growing. Funny though Jeff, most people wouldv'e said "growing trend".

I do believe you though (a little). How about this... Say "I apologize for any misunderstanding"

Now can we pleeeze get back to the debate?

Basically.... most the libs don't read the whole question or take the time to comprehend it. They saw that it was a Fox story... and that was all it took. They also believe they are the only "progressives" out there.... I see business and the economy progressing just fine.

B.D...... wasn't it the dems that floated the theory that Bush controlled Katrina.... and that he mastermind 911... which party sounds like the idiots again?

Asking if it's part of a "progressive" trend, is what makes it a party issue.. Democrats now like to use "progressive" instead of "liberal" because Republican talk show hosts and politicians stained the word "liberal".. Basically, it sounds like you're calling democrats pedophiles..

Hillary called herself a "progressive", so by having progressive in your question you have linked that word with Hillary, who is a democrat, and now it's a party issue. I understod what you meant, but some people come here looking for a fight, so there you go.

I am guessing two elements. Your use of the word Progressive obviously made some think you were blaming liberal progressives for this.
The first answer you recieved came straight out and blamed Democrats.

Well, I wondered why you put it into the Politics category as opposed to Law and Ethics. I thought YOU were intimating something, and, since I didn't know what that might be, I chose not to answer.

I think since you said progressive many Democrats assumed you were talking about them. But it is part of the progessive, liberal trend.
