Should I go by my rising sign or my sun sign? And how do you tell what your rising sign is?

I heard about a rising sign being able to dominate you. There is an article about past lives that you should go by your horoscope sign but I am confused whether it has to be your rising or sun sign.

Your rising sign is basically your *mask* - cover or front --- how other people see you.

Your sun is your ego - basically the foundations of your personality. Depending on what the rest of your chart looks like, it can be very open and out there, or it can be hidden and you will act nothing like your sun sign. (in my case it's hidden and I'm more influenced by my rising sign - only because my rising is amplified by the 4 planets that accompany it in the same sign in the 1st house)

I have Leo Sun, Aquarius Rising and Moon. I like them both a lot; I love the confidence, generosity, pride, loving and fun nature my Leo Sun gives me and I love the intelligence stimulation, humanitarian side and (sometimes)emotional detachment my Aquarius Moon and Rising give me. Although I love both signs, I do prefer my Sun sign better. I think it's amazing to have Leo Sun and Aquarius Moon (or vice-versa), as it keeps you quite balanced. I check the Leo horoscope mainly, but sometimes I check the Aquarius horoscope because my chart is Aquarius dominant.

past lives are stupid. it is technically impossible for anything like a past life to happen. you can imagine a past life but that's about it.

rising sign is how people see you...go by both if you like. your personality is a combination of both sort of. get a book that describes the ascendant characteristics. rising sign is determined by the time of day. find a chart for that.

In vedic astrology, women are mostly judged by their moon and the house and sign it is in. Whereas men are judged by the first house and signs and planets therein.

My moon is in libra in the tenth house, so I like to go by the moon, but I feel both ways affect me.

in my opinion you shouldn't go by any. I just think its not a good thing to believe in horoscope etc. ect. What my believe is that your life is set..........just like you live then you die. same goes with being rich or being poor, some are born rich ..some are born poor. but then some are born rich and then they die poor, I believe whats happens in your life is meant to happen and it may change a bit but whatever is meant to be is always meant to be nothing you can do about it,,,,this is just my opinion .....thats the only explanation why bad things happen to good people or children or babies.........
