In 1013 The Danish kind invaded England and forced Edward the Confessor to seek refuge with his father in Normandy, because both of them have Norsemen heritage. When Edward went back to England he brought many educated Normans and advisors.
One of the lords (Earls) that flourished under the Danish kings rule tried to rally his countrymen against the the new Norman influence.HE was later exiled and the Norman influence grew in England
Later in 1066 William the Conquer as he is called sailed from Normandy and promptly invaded England with an army of mercenaries and Norman knights. William had right to both land in France and now land in England by conquest.
When William died there was a power struggle over his lands in both France and England. For many Generations the land has been claimed by both France and England because they both have right to it

Funny, I am reading a very long book about all this fighting between England and France back in the Middle Ages, around the time of the Black Plague; the answer of course is complicated but can be boiled down to a simple answer: land. There were areas of France that both England and France wanted to claim, and those areas changed hands over and over throughout the ages depending on who was winning. All of this was of course mixed up with allegiances formed by various marriages, the balance of power, religion, and general greed, lol. But, on a basic level, your answer would be land.

From 1066 to the 16th century all of the kings of England were french who had many disputes with other french nobles over parts of France that they claimed were theirs .
In the 18th century the main disagreement was over french support for the american revolution and then the french revolution in which their monarch was executed which caused the english monarchy great concern in case the revolution gave the english people the idea of doing the same.
In the 19th century Napoleon expanded the french empire and the english were forced to fight him to protect their own empire.
That was the last great dispute between the english and french although there have been minor disputes since.

Well, gossip says that they were having a fling and something was said or done and BOOM, an argument started that just got out of hand. Maybe it was one wanted grilled beef and the other wanted char broiled. Somebody got burned.
