Today I got a little nervous because I hadn't felt my baby move all day. She is usually very active during the day. I'm at 38 weeks, so her movements aren't very pronounced anymore, but I'm used to feeling something! (i.e. squirming around.) She started moving around about an hour ago, and I'm going to mention the lack of movement to my doctor tomorrow when I go to my appointment.
What tricks have you all used to get your baby to start moving? I tried eating, drinking some sugary juice, a hot shower, a bright light on my belly...everything I could think of. I was about to try music through headphones on my belly when she started to move.
Also, is it true that they don't move as much in the days leading up to delivery? A friend told me she heard this from her doctor.
Any ideas? Thanks!! :)

Yes, it's true they don't move as much closer to delivery because it gets really tight in there. lol
I went through the same thing you did with my last baby. One night I realized my baby had not moved all day. I freaked out and woke my husband up and we lay there for a while waiting for movements and nothing happened. I had some juice and walked around the house and then laid down. She finally started moving again and I felt better.
We just figured that she must have moved during the day but I missed it somehow - you know, really distracted with something else or maybe dozing off or in the middle of a strenuous activity - something like that.
You should be fine. Just chalk this up to a "slow day" for your baby. They have their days just like we do.
So here are some tips - try walking around and then staying very still. Or drink some juice, lie down and pat or tap your tummy a little.

The nurse told me last night to drink cold water, eat something and count 10 fetal movements within two hours...then she is ok. I am 38 weeks too. I am having a girl and she wasn't moving hardly any today either, but I wasn't feeling good and she was probably tired, but right now she is moving A LOT!!! So, if I were you I would drink ice cold water, prop your feet up in a recliner or on the couch and start counting from 1-10 and as long as it is within two hours she is ok. At least you are feeling some movement. That is a good sign!!

yes its true babies stop moving around in the last days because they have less room to do so. I was worried about that with my oldest My doc told me to drink some juice and lay on your left side hand on belly in a quiet bright room and really concentrate about 15-20 mins after drinking the juice and you should notice something

it is true that babies move less when closer to due date due to lack of room to move. however i have had many problems with fetal movement in both my pregnancies and i am telling you now if after a meal that baby does not move three times within a half hour call your doctor. it could be a lack of amniotic fluid and that is not good. really don't wait for an appointment call right away. i am sure all is probably fine but from one mommy to another please take my advice i know what i am talking about. good luck

I've heard they don't move as much later on in a pregnancy. My dr told me to drink a glass of water and lay on my side for 30 min-1 hour. This worked for me.

eat ice or a cold milk shake... that got mine goin!!! and dont worry... she's just sleepin... but If you feel that concerned get an ultrasound to make sure the cord isnt being pressed...
My first little girl kept holding the cord so tight she would put herself in distress... then let go because of the shock of no blood... then graps it again... my little dumb child! The doctors all though it was funny, but It was serious enough to have a c-section... Good luck.
CONGRATS!

i'm 23 weeks and on Monday I informed my wellbeing care professional I fairly have not been able to experience the infant kick. So he despatched me to the wellbeing midsection have been i'm having my son and that they did a NST ( non rigidity try) on me that's in basic terms the monitoring of the infant strikes. He grew to become out to be nice, yet its constantly ultimate just to make confident and to no longer steer away from it. The cramps may be jsut the stress of the infant... however the wellbeing care professional could answer that for you...

They slow down more and more the closer you get because there is less and less room to move around. Mention it tomorrow but if you've felt her move around today I wouldn't worry.
