I think they put up with a lot of sh!tty weather...dozens of tornadoes a year, hurricanes, HOT summers like the blazes of damnation, floods of Biblical proportions, and not to elaborate too much on thousands of illegal aliens: if they aren't pulling down wages by taking jobs at lower pay, then they are commiting violent and property crimes. Honestly- I think Texans are a patient people.

Most people I know think Texans are all hype and dumb as door nails. Being that Bush is from there, it's no wonder the reputation persists. But me, I think everybody is equal anywhere you go, a lot of people are exports to here or there anyway, so it's not like we're talking about closed communities, except maybe in size. National poll does suggest Texans are the fattest people around, and that could be true, I wouldn't know. But whatever their size, there's always an a**hole in the crowd no matter what state you're in.

I've been to Texas enough times to know there's quite a bit of difference between various regions within Texas. For example, "Big Country" West Texans are way different than those from the Dallas-Ft.Worth Metroplex.
As far as stereotypes - I find Texans to be very hospitable and nice.

Don't mess with Texas...lol that's first thing that comes to mind, but really every state has it's own individuals and stereotypes and no matter where you live there are all different types of people good and bad. I have a friend who does drag and really knows alot about it and he said that Texas is the best place for drag queens they have the biggest drag queen pageants out there and they are really into it. I said Texas really?

For some reason when people say Texans my first thought used to be old white men with accents...
But now they're fun loving people who know how to BBQ! woot!
then again like all states Texas has it's ups and downs.

Big guns; hot men-in uniform that is, it's Air Force dominated as there are 5 military bases there; it's hot; a lot of illegals; people with really closed minded type of demeanor or very open. Southern beauties; I've been there once, it was nice. I use to live in Louisiana-so, yeah-I became aware of TX.

I'm not really fond of Texas mostly because of the climate. It's way too hot. I also don't know many real Texans since my cousins are transplants.

If it wasn't for the arrogance of early Texans, you wouldn't have so much criticism. But what is worse, is having Dubya from Texas running our country. Who's keeping who rich, and who is getting richer?
