I am seeking to do what I can to make Christian/Gay relations better.
what can be done to make things better? probably 99% the other side, but what gays do? you can't do anything about what Christians do? - Please understand not all Christians are the same. God doesn't hate gay people and those people who say that are horribly mis-informed. That's not what the Bible says. The Bible says ALL have sinned and fall short. It doesn't single anyone out. I fall just as short as you do. I'm no better.
I'm writing questions to the Christian side as well. I'm just trying to do what I can to help make things better - It seems like a very difficult task.
A number of gay people were kind to me when my wife died, and I am trying to do my part to help.
I'm not like a lot of other people. I'm not going to get up there and bash you over the head like I'm better or something. I can honestly relate to many of you.
I don't always understand but I try. love.

just because one idiot burns somebody's house or pickets an abortion clinic - doesn't mean that's all Christians. - I don't know that people really see that. I think those people are crazy.

I believe Jesus said "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God"
Thanks for reaching out.
I know many gay Christians in the Agape, First Metropolitan and other churches. I know of one Transgendered Minister.
You won't reach people who have been damaged on either side. Call for dialog and allow people to speak and listen. Reach out to other peacemakers like yourself, and good luck.

While God does not hate the gay person, God does hate sin! All Sin!
As I see it here is the point of contention as I see it. Homosexuality according to the Bible is a sin and Christians are opposed to it. The Bible tell us it is an abomination to God. People living in that sin of homosexuality it seems want their own personal recognition. Have you ever seen drunkards, adulterers, or fornicators (these are sins listed in Galatians 5) band together and want 'special' rights or recognition like the gay/lesbian movement?
I've never heard a drunkard, adulterer or fornicator say that they were born that way, the way homosexuals profess it.
Personally, I think there will always be contention between Christians and Homosexuals. It is the classic Righteousness vs Sin conflict.

I am a Christian who believes sexual orientation is biologically determined. It is very difficult to fault someone for the way he or she is born without being considered a bigot. The more Christians who understand that sexual orientation is not a choice, the more tolerance there will be. It's true that people can make choices about how sexually active they choose to be. Many Christians are opposed to premarital sex between heterosexual couples, so maybe allowing homosexual couples to make legal (or even spiritual) commitments to will ease some Christian discomfort. However, homosexuals will never be allowed to "legitimize" their commitments if conservative Christians continue to have their way.

I understand what you are saying. It is hard for some people to separate a person from their beliefs. I, too have gay friends, and I am a committed Christian. My friends know that I believe homosexuality is not scriptural. I know that they don't agree with my belief. We still are friends, and agree to disagree.
In the long run, I would rather be known as one who loved others, than one who judged them. Judging isn't in my job description.

Thank you for asking this question.
I think we can start by informing those misinformed that they are misinformed. We need to take down the big televangelists and every high influence person who uses anti-gay propaganda to fire shots at both Christians and LGBT's.

There is nothing wrong with liking gay people. Don't hate the person, hate the sin. It is a sin to be gay. However trying to join the two groups is like oil and water they just don't mix. However if you are a true Christian you are to love everyone, although this does not mean you participate in their deeds.

I think tolerance is the best answer, if people could just agree to disagree, and leave gay people alone and stop trying to take away our rights, then their wouldn't be such a big problem.

Debunk the Bible, deprogram Fundies thinking, get pastors in Georgia to stop burning down gay peoples' homes and to stop bombing abortion clinics in the name o' Jesus.
