Totally normal. Some don't even do an 8 week ultrasound and only do the one at 18-20 weeks. Your next ultrasound will be a comprehensive ultrasound that will check the heart and all the organs making sure everything is in the right place and looks good. They will look at the placenta and the blood flow. You'll also get to see the sex if the baby cooperates. You may even catch a glimpse of your baby's face. It's very cool. Hands, feet, little arms and legs...very cool.

My first ultrasound was at 19 weeks. Maybe it's different where you come from :) But in Australia most women usually have their first at 18 - 20 weeks. Some have it earlier due to medical reason or I guess just plain curiosity to see your bub. But to answer your question yes it is normal to have a ultrasound at 18 weeks. I had to have another ultrasound at 34 weeks because my placenta was low - but it has moved up, thank god.
Also at 18 weeks you will be able to find out the sex of baby if you want :) Good luck to you and your baby!

Some women only get ONE ultrasound (at 18-20 weeks) when they are pregnant or some NONE at all, so I think you are definitely ok. You probably wouldn't want to expose the baby needlessly to too much radiation waves anyway unless there was a medical need. Too many ultrasounds would not be good for the fetus - plus it's really expensive. Each scan costs like 300-400 dollars.

Yep, that's normal. They normally do the first one to confirm that the pregnancy is viable, and then they do the other one at around 18-22 weeks for an anatomy scan. You could always inquire about the 3-D ultrasounds which can sometimes cost more money.

That's pretty normal...I didn't get my first ultra sound until I was about 19 weeks along. If you're healthy, and the doc doesn't think that there's anything wrong, they won't really do an ultrasound until you're further along.
I also heard somewhere that you shouldn't have too many ultrasounds done because it could be harmful to the baby. Talk to your doctor to be sure though.

yeah, it is normal. It all depends on what your insurance will cover. It isn't uncommon to have between 1 and 3 ultrasounds your entire pregnancy... if you are high risk you will likely have many more though.

Yes that is normal. Only high risk pregnancies (IE, previous miscarriages or multiple birth pregnancies) get ultrasounds more frequently. It sucks, i know.. sorry! But CONGRATS and good luck!

I only had ONE ultrasound, at 16 weeks. It sounds like you'll have several. So since you like to have them, consider yourself lucky that you get that many.
