You'll go in and have blood drawn. Then they give you a sugary drink. You have like 10 minutes to finish the whole thing. Then you sit for 1-2 hours. After that, they draw your blood again. This allows them to see how your body breaks down the sugars.
Good luck & congrats on your bean!

I never got morning sickness when i was preggo, but i can tell u my experience with the gestational diabetes test.
First they will have u drink a nasty orange drink, it kinda taste like flat old orange soda. Then you wait around the waiting area for two or three hours, they draw your blood and your all done. Your doctor will give you the results.
I hope this helps u out a little. Are u haveing a boy or girl?

you will have to drink this nasty orange stuff, it tastes like orange kool aid or flat orange soda, then they have you wait around for about 1-2 hours and draw your blood. Thats it! Why arent they letting you eat after 12am the night before? When i had mine done they never said anything about not being able to eat, just not in the 1-2 hours . Mine was for an hour.

I know just how you feel. I really dreaded this test because of having to fast. I brought food with me in my purse and scarfed it down immediately after the test. By that point I was really feeling dizzy and ill but thankfully I did not get the dry heaves or anything.
That was with my first pregnancy.
With my second pregnancy I was on phenergan for morning sickness and so it helped ease the nausea that morning. If you do not have a prescription, you can take 1/2 of a unisom tablet and a 50 mg tablet of B6. This is THE safest remedy for morning sickness and was recommended by my doctor.

The stuff they make you drink is really gross and you have a time limit to drink it in. Yuck! Then it's a blood draw (probably at 1 hour then 2 hours). You probably won't be allowed to eat until after the last blood draw so I'd take something with you to eat right after.

I hope they dont do what they did to me!
They accidentally administered the 3 hour test to me, so I had to have my blood drawn 4 times, and had to stay for quite a while... without eating too!!!
Some doctors allow you to drink water during the test, that would have been a big help if mine did.... Just expect to suffer a bit, but just rememeber, it is for the health of your little baby...
GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!!!

Expect pain. They draw like umpteen dozen vials of blood. And you have to drink this nasty drink that is like orange juice on crack.
