Goodell is trying to clean up the image of the NFL. I give him that as a good thing. He is going to destroy the NFL with his habits inwhich he handles players that have had problems. Odell Thurman of the Bengals was suspended as we all know and applied to be reinstated. He did his time, paid for his mistakes and accomplished all requirements to be reinstated. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a 2nd or 3rd chance depending on the violation. Odell is still a very young man and has had to learn things the hard way just like most other people. Goodell denied him reinstatement into the NFL. He wants Odell to mess up again. Goodell is taking this young mans life away without a chance to prove himself. Odell should be around the bengals players and staff in a positive atmosphere instead of on the streets where he would be down on himself and life and more than likely go down the wrong road. Goodell , give the young man a chance. If it happens again, you know its the end!!!

Goddell is doing actually what i though he would do, See Goddell is a typical man he hasnt played in the NFL so he isn't looking at how much the play need football to turn his life around but he is looking at the fact that this player is using football for all its advantages. Thurman served his time and he cause no commotion maybe one incedent but he wasn't like Pac man or Tank. Thurman does deserve a second chance but the thing i dont like is Goddell doesnt even give a reason why? Goddell isnt build for this job, he is to busy wanting to throw the book at trouble makers instead of trying to turn around troubled young men who need guidence

From what I heard in response to a similar question asked recently, Thurman was just arrested again about a month ago, and that is why his reinstatement was denied.

Let's not go around crying about how unfairly these athletes are being treated. There are 100s more players who wish they had the opportunity to be in the shoes of Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, or Tank Johnson (playing in the NFL that is, not suspended). There guys are all blowing their careers by being involved with behavior that is dangerous, illegal, and bad for the image of the NFL.

I'm sorry, if you want to say "Well these 20 yr olds are millionaires, what would you do if it was you?", then perhaps we shouldn't be paying them so much. I think its a bit ridiculous that rookies are holding out trying to make $8 million a year instead of $6. What do you need that much money for? Stop thinking how fantastic you are and how much you deserve to have handed to you, and get out on the field and let your actions do the talking instead of your big mouths!

Goodell is right to lay down the law and say enough is enough. Frankly, I don't care if Pacman has been convicted of anything. He was involved in 10 police interrogations over the past couple years. He needs a wake up call or he needs to be out of the league. I hope the Titans drop him, because he is an embarassment to great players like Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, and Walter Payton. They had more talent than any of these players and never flaunted it. Their play said it all for them.

It will be a real shame if Jones gets reinstated this season or if he ever plays for the Titans again. Don't cry over how unfair these players are being treated, cry over the fact that the average joe's are busting *** to pay the bills while these jackasses make millions and act like scumbags.

This commissioner is great on how he's handling all the chaos is happening to the NFL players. You got too many players who's out of control, common they're got players like Pac-Man Jones who's seem to get in troubles with the law all the times. The Bengals players have a long list of troubles players, like 9 players deep. Mike Vick and his dogfighting cause a nation wide of bad publicity for the NFL. So you need a commissioner who's very disciplinarian and hit the break and punish for theirs miss behavior, like suspension from 6 months to a year. And i applaud him for not letting Odell Thurman back in just yet, because he feel that Thurman doesn't do enough to get back in the league just yet.

Its pretty simple, If you do drugs or get caught with weapons or whatever the charge is and your boss finds out about it, you will probably be fired depending what your job is. The players in the NFL are looked up to by millions of kids across the nation and Goodell is trying to fix the image of alot of these guys that keep getting in trouble. Most of these guys probably think he is giving them a hard time, but he is actually trying to make them better people, and you can see how some of the players react to that, ie Pacman Jones.. I think that if Roger thinks someone isn't worthy of playing in the NFL after a suspension, then he shouldn't play, simple as that. Goodell is the commisioner and its his rules now, and he isn't a push-over type guy it seems. If a grown man cant figure out how to take care of himself then he shouldn't be alowed to play in the NFL.

What do you anticipate whilst they permit the # 2 television marketplace go without a NFL team for fantastically much 14 years now They observed the means with NFL Europe and be conscious of that London may be a funds cow. of direction London might recommend the eventual understanding that we will finally end up with 40 communities and a 18-20 general game season. huge huge money! i might wager that via 2011 the general season would be 18 video games. don't be shocked if the preseason will become no greater suitable than 2 video games. we would desire to verify a NFL season go till third week of Feb. NFC East may be the probable branch a team may be further to. i think of the expenses are already laying the floor artwork to take over the Toronto marketplace. human beings additionally forget that Germany has a extensive fan base for NFL soccer. whilst NFL Europa ended 5 of 6 communities have been based in Germany. If Roger takes the NFL international they be conscious of the means merchandising gross revenues may be in the billions. he's likewise thinking beat different leagues to the punch. before the suspension of the international soccer League 2009 season there became talk of putting a AFL team in Germany. heavily! it extremely is basically count number of time before the NFL is going international. you ought to submit to in recommendations that our own financial gadget on my own won't be sufficient to assist the eventual bidding conflict that would desire to happen between the UFL and the recent USFL Leagues. soccer is a company. Roger Goodell isn't thinking like purist or a traditionalist. he's observing the base line. He needs each and every thing to make greater funds. The league is familiar with they ought to alter with the circumstances, earn greater funds and advert a means hard artwork strike in 2011. submit to in recommendations 2010 will probable be a uncapped 300 and sixty 5 days. they ought to tutor to the gamers that they are thinking of their maximum suitable pastime. When will it all stop if we keep making excuses for these atheletes. I applaud Goodell for actually manning up and taking care of these clowns. I would lose my job if I did any of these things so why should they be any different. I believe this is not his first time he has been in trouble, but even so most minimum wage jobs have background checks that if you fail they will not hire you. The NFL is just trying to conduct business like most companies. Let's hope MLB and the NBA start to follow suit.

It is rare for people in the business world to get second chances. Why should it be different for Odell Thurman?

I will wait for Al Sharpton to jump on board.

i think he is doing the right thing of trying to clean the image of the game up, but some of his punishments r to harsh. I'm a titans fan and pacman Jones is a perfect example of this. he got suspended for the whole season and he hasn't been convicted of anything. meanwhile, tank Johnson who went to jail only got 6 games. that's some bull****.

We don't hve all of the facts to know why this player was rejected again. But if there was ever a team that needed to clean up it's act, that would be the Cincinati Bengals.
