You should tell your mom!!! I tell my mom everything!! I'm 13 and going into 8th grade too. I care about how i look too, im actually a little over weight and i've really been working on that. You shouldn't be shy at all. Tell your mother everything, I mean she's a girl, and she's had a time where she's had to shave too! I've had pretty hairy legs since i was 10 LOL. BUt mt hairs are blonde, but when it gets pretty thickish you can really see it. So when i was 11 i asked my mom when i could start shaving, and that christmas i got an electric razor! For wet or dry so it's easier and it wont cut you if you do something wrong, like a regular one would. But seriously, TELL YOUR MOM! YOu should be able to tell your mom anything and im sure she'll understand! Don't be shy!!

I'd be honest with her. She's a woman and has been through this so she will understand. At your age I refused to tell my mother anything - not when I shaved or when I needed pads, nothing - I just took them from the cabinet since I had so many sisters they never noticed. Now I feel crazy knowing that I snuck around just to shave my legs and armpits. It's just hair.

So I would say just approach her when she's in a good mood - like not right after she gets home - but like after dinner sitting aruond watching TV or something. Just tell her that you were wnodering if she'd let you get a razor since you are getting fuzzy and don't want to be embarassed walking around like that. If she says no, be sure to ask why and see if she has a valid reason.

Razor recommendation - schick intuition - it has the shaving lotion built into it. or venus is good too. The cheaper the razor the more you'll nick yourself.

Good luck

I hear you girl! I do have hairy legs too and have started shaving them, waxing them since I was 13 years old! Well I think your mum will understand your situation. She has been a young girl once and she could've been in your situation before! Just let her know that you are very concerned about how you look and would want to look as presentable as possible (without hairy legs) and is thinking of getting your legs shaved, waxed or using an epilator. Don't worry, you'll be fine. There's more than hair on legs that you have to worry about in the future!!! Good luck!

When shaving becomes necessary, its just part of good grooming. Do you need your mom's permission to take a bath or wash your hair? But I also understand that you don't want to do something behind your mother's back. And that's good. Instead of asking for permission to shave, just tell her that you need to and ask her to show you how. She may cry a little because her little girl is growing up, but it could also be a good bonding opportunity for the two of you. A way to start ending the mother/little girl relationship and begin a new mother/young lady relationship. Hopefully she will appreciate that you came to her instead of just doing it with one of your friends.

(If that doesn't work, have a slumber party where ALL of the girls shave.)

I remember when I started shaving my legs.

I just did it and then went and told my mom I started shaving. At that point she saw it was already started so I might as well just keep going with it.

In your case, I would explain the situation to your mother and let her know that for your own self esteems sake.. you need a razor and a little instruction on how to get started.

Who knows, she might be happy that you came to her about something like this for once.

I understand I was in the exact same situation, but you know what I did? I just said it. I just went into her room and said "mom can i get a razor" she thought I was talking about a Razr cell phone lol she just said "once you start you have to keep doing it cause the hair will grow back thicker" and a few days later I had smooth silky legs =D

Go buy a shaving set urself and start shaving ur legs. Hairy legs and arms are a major turn off. While you are at it, you can shave your privates too (when sexually active). Why do u need ur mother's permission?

OK, don't take a blade and do it your self, simply talk to her about start talking about hygiene and how you think that shaving would help your self-esteem so that you can wear your shorts skirts or dresses and for you not feel embarrassed around your friends.

She should come to terms with it, just be honest and respectful and listen to what she has to say about it. Take Care, and Good Luck

Well you have a few different options. One of them is you don't need to tell her and you can just go get your own razors from the store and start shaving yourself or you can go tell her, mom can I please have a razor so I can shave my legs. I personally never told my mom when I was younger and she just assumed I did it.
