not a therapist, or a counselor...just someone you could call up and talk to...if you had a bad or good day, problems, just wanting to vent, or just wanting to say something or share something with someone...if that service existed, would you use it?
i find myself more and more isolated and wondered if that service was available would i use it...i think i would...i wouldn't be judged or criticized...
would you use it?

part of the reason i ask is because a lot of people are looking for that here on YA...sometimes they may have legitimate issues and some jack-o comes along with a nonsense answer and turns this upside down...some people don't have someone they can trust, and they seek someone who is neutral and who wont judge them...

Sure - I think sometimes it is good to be heard by someone anonymous who can be totally objective. Years ago, there was a toll free number that provided this type of service. It was called the 9-line (1-800-999-9999). You could just call ask advice - nothing legal or medical or anything - just generic stuff, or you could just be listened to. I am sure it doesn't exist anymore - this was back when I was in high school. But I think it is a good idea. You would just need to be careful about the legal ramifications of actually making suggestions or giving advice that could come back to bite.

Yes, I think its a good idea.....some people are lonely and
have no one to talk too.
When I was a telephone operator, years ago when they had
the switchboards......There would be a least 1 or 2 people
a week asking if I could just take some time and chat with
them...lonely, maybe something bad happened, etc
I referred them to my supervisor, who was a wonderful
caring women.
Go for it......I think you will need to hire some people to
help you with the calls.....get a 800 number.

I'm not really in need of that, but I would be that person if someone wanted me to listen.
Of course the problem you run into, once someone knows you they do get to be judgemental, but once you know them maybe you want them to be. (In a good way).
As I have said in an answer before, though I don't know where, I'd love to post my e-mail address. The only problem is that all those wiseasses out there would see it too.

I can see where that would be wonderful...but it would depend on how much it would cost. Then the people offering the service would be in a vulnerable spot...open to a lot of liability. I might use it...if it weren't expensive.

i have a degree in psychology (but not practicing it at the moment) and i think there's nothing wrong with that... as long as that person has a license to deal with that kind of work... and as long as your assured that that person will not tell the whole world about what you've just said... if you're not up with that service, what are friends for? :)

My school youse to have this thing where there was a list of phone numbers you could call (it was all the people in the school) and we could talk to them whenever we were upset or just needed someone to talk to. Ive had people call me and ive called a few people. They started it because of a friend of mine killed herself who went to the school.

I think I'd use it. But I'd have to be assured that what I say stays with me and who I'm talking to. The majoriy of therapists I've talked to really haven't given me any better information that friends or family that I've talked to. :)))

Sure..sometimes you just need to vent. Not really need a response.. you just need to vent and talk and get it out of your system..
