I have a small gasoline generator, that I have bought to use in case of a hurricane, I can turn it on and still have my dads oxygen machine running. My concern is that I do not have a garage or a carport. Where could I run this without the rain messing it up? If I build a small dog house for it I am scared that it will overheat due to the fact that it is air cooled. Any suggestions?? Please help.

The dog house idea is very good.

I've planned to put something similar together for my generator, but for the few times it is needed, and even fewer times that the weather would require, having such a shelter really isn't a high priority.

Generac suggests using the shipping box as a rain shelter in their owner's manual. I can't see the cardboard lasting well in bad weather though. Their suggestion is shown on page 8 in the manual, available here...

Rather than building a dog house; just build an A frame with the and close the sides (Install a door with a lock).

Build it high enough to stand up and large enough to service the generator.

Leave the bottom 12" open.

Leave about 6" open at the ridge and build a raised ridge cap.

Have the ridge cap raised about 6 " above the roof.

Extend the ridge cap about 2 feet down either side of the ridge.

You can screen the openings to keep out the critters.

This will give you ample air circulation to keep the generator from overheating and protect it from the weather.

Make sure the ground is high enough to keep the water from accumulating inside the A-Frame.

Good Luck

Generator Rain Shelter

It will run in the rain just fine. Care needs to be taken just as with any other electrical appliance. On the other hand building a "dog" house for it would work fine also. Good vents near the top and bottom will ensure adaquate air flow to cool the unit. The house doesn't need to be air tight to provide weather protection. As long as it has air flow it will be fine. You could also direct the exhaust out of the dog house and this would lower the temp inside. A piece of funace or dryer duct(metal) would do the job.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU8FD

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

no way. I used to sleep in between my grandparents when I was little, then wet the bed! I'm 27 now and I'm still scared of storms. Especially in my master room because I have sky lights! HA. That's ironic. Must be nice to sleep through it. I do love the rain though.

If you are worried about it, just grab a 4X8 sheet of plywood and place it on 2 saw horses to keep the rain off. That should be enough protection for it. good luck.
