Ok ok, y'all. I'm afraid to go to bed. I've got this 1/2" long bug that moves very fast. Its legs, head, and antennae are shaped like an oversized ant's with very pronounced mandibles. There is no separation between the thorax and the abdomen (middle and backside? I'm not good with bug anatomy.) Meanwhile the elongated tail has full 360 degree rotation and will lash back up over its head trying to sting when caught. I accidentally sqashed the neck, and its tail kept lashing around, leaving white streaks on the glass from where it was trying to hit me. (And yes, it kept trying to bite with the mandibles too!!) Dark brown... overall body shape kind of like a mealworm. Any ideas? I want to figure out what it is so I can talk to my landlord...... please help me ID this thing!

It sounds like it's maybe an earwig. They're all over this time of yr. Indoors and out ! I personally hate them too. They like to crawl into and under just about anything. They seem to like damp dark spots the most. Even if you leave a article of clothing on the floor , towel etc, it seems by morning one or two of them has found a "hidy hole" I've even found them in our dogs cracked tennis ball ! Gross.... If you don't have pets or little children you could use a indoor pest spray around the baseboards, under sinks, windows and doorways. It helps quite a bit keep them outside. I believe Ortho or Raid now makes a organic pest spray also you can try !

I'm sorry to here that you have this problem but your best bet was to take a pic of this creature and took it to a professional to identify it . However you should also called the landlord that very instant it may venemous . Now that I think of it I believe that I saw one of those in Puerto Rico and too me It sounds like an Alacran I'm not sure what it is called in english but I tell you if that's what it is be careful or move the hell out of there their maybe more .
