It isn't a 180 quite yet, but they are beginning to finally realize that perhaps a policy of defeat isn't exactly the policy Americans are buying into.
The possibility of a victory in Iraq has them scurrying around to try and find a way to undo their political grandstanding for the last three years or so - perhaps try and spin their outright anti-American stance into some kind of weird "support the troops" policy. But their lies won't work twice - not after all of the promises they made in the November campaigns.
They can't deny the link between Iraq and the overall war on terror any longer - and they can't keep telling us we are losing when the facts coming out of Iraq say differently.
It should be very interesting to watch them squirm out of this one.

Yep I heard it on CNN two of the top Democrat reporters from the war front are now saying we are winning and the surge is working. The reason this makes head lines is a few months ago they where typical Liberals crying about the war but that was before they saw it in real life. I'm laughing my *** off .HOW STUPID DO THE LIBERALS FEEL NOW??? now is going to really be tough for Liberals get out of this mess There own team showed they have been wrong from the start and It's on Tape

Some in the media and liberal think tanks are actually starting to realize that things in Iraq have changed significantly, especially those that have been there recently like the two authors of the NY Times piece. The democrats are doing a serious disservice to the nation with their deciet. Bin Laden himself noted that the American peoples lack of will and resolve would be its downfall.
The surge is working and even liberals cannot deny it when shown the truth- again this is especially true of those who have been there. Those who came out in support of the surge in urged American resolve fin ally put reality ahead of ideology.
PS: No I wouldnt have invaded but I am not some blind ideologue that has to avoid accepting reality because it may challenge my beliefs. I seek the truth not self validation

Democrats aren't beginning to do a 180 This is the third time somebody has posted this -- this is just an op ed by two guys who are basically moderate mainstream people who have been involved with the government for years -- it is not a New York Times editorial and it does not reflect any 180 by democrats. The Times prints all sorts of different views on the op ed pages..
Rush is spinning this all out of proportion and you are buying it.
It is also very amusing when the right wing has to point to "Left leaning" people to validate their viewpoints -- they keep saying how wrong the left is on everything and then marches out some "left leaning " person who seems to support them -- so I am to conclude that when a "left-Leaning" person says something it has more validity?

Actually, this refers to the op-ed written by two analysts from the Brookings Institution.
So, (1) they do not speak for the Democratic party and (2) they cite cause for raised expectations, chiefly the fact that the U.S. Army seems to have actually identified the enemy now. Fantastic.

i enjoy how you are fed a falsehood, seasoned with points of view, focused just to your inclination, and you run blindly down the street proclaiming the wisdom in it.
is the media liberal or not?
what democrats are doing a 180?
who says they are seeing a connection between Iraq and terrorism that you agree with?
consider your source...and then get at least two outside sources.

I'm feeling 'dirty' now that I have lowered myself to visit Rush Limbaugh's site!
Eeewww!
I think the thing you are missing is this war was never meant to be a 'win and get out' scenario.
The powers that be are looking for permanent status in the Middle East.
Iraq is one of many sites.
