Does anyone else think that Sharapova needs to ditch her dad? I mean I really don't see a great improvement from her since she won Wimbledon in 2004. I know she is great, but is it time to freshen things up? After her grand slam win in the US last year, it just seems that she's loosing touch. She was totally dominated by Serena in Australia and again at the Sony Ericson Open in March. She cannot sustain against Ivanovic having lost twice to her (French semis and earlier in January when she retired). She played a good DFS Classic tournament before Wimbledon but alas was overpowered by Jankovic. And we all know what happened at Wimbledon, although Venus was unstopable!!

Undoubtedly Sharapova will be a Grand Slam winner again, but in your opinion should she 'ditch her dad'?

Henin-Jankovic final in the US. Henin to win!!

When I say ditch her dad, i don't mean actually fire him. I just mean to say, do you think that he is maybe a less than positive force in her life. I mean he proved it himself that he can be very hot-headed in matches...

I agree with RS keep Yuri around he's blood and a good guy. Her problem is injuries and too many distractions in the form of sponsorship responsibility - ads and interviews commercials. Crap just let her work on her game, yeah maybe get a really good coach, and let her play tennis.

No, Sharapova shouldn't ditch her dad. But, I haven't seen any improvement in her game since seeing her win Wimbledon in 2004. Her serve has been strugglng due to a shoulder injury which isn't Yuri's fault. Yuri has been a good coach but I've learned when a coach can only take you to a certain point then he should be that person's coach anymore. Yuri has turned Maria into a baseline slugger. Maria needs a more versatile game and it's time for her to get a new coach.

no, i dont think her dad is the reason why is is losing so much its because of her shoulder injury, plus her dad is just there for support, what she should really focus on is finding a better coach that will improve her serve, court movement and to become more comfortable at the net, but no to ditch her dad. If he wasnt there it will probably make her lose more, since we always needs some support from our friends or family.

hardly mate...as with the two posts above mine...no one should ditch their dads...

for as long as i could remember yuri has been supporting maria all the way...the reason why maria is where she is today...is because of him!

marias shoulder injury has been hindering her from playing her best tennis...maria has a great power game behind her...but with the shoulder injury,...she has definately lost her edge there

with her inability to serve properly...its no wonder she was ripped apart by venus...

so to answer ditching her dad....nah no way...

but she should concentrate more on tennis (if thats her goal, she is already one of the highest paid stars in sports)

cheers

I think she should try new things such as new coach, but she doesn't have to ditch her Dad.
I think she should weight more than 130 lbs.
She need to fit physically first.

NO.... Your family are your #1 supporters. Never ever ditch your own family because of sports, money, or anything. They are more important then anything else...
