Because if there were a picture in the dictionary besided "black politician", you'd see a picture of Jesse Jackson. He's so unviable, even the Democrats know better. Obama is the first serious black contender for the Democrats, one that you can't even imagine reciting "Cill my Landlord" (by Eddie Murphy as Tyrone Greene)

The Republicans had some worth considering, but the Democrats quickly lable the likes of Condi Rice and Colin Powell as "Uncle Toms".

So far all who has ran was Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Those are certainly two men who only have their own and their minorities interest not the interest of this nation as a whole. Colin Powell could have walked into office very easily. The one running now is not experienced enough and is way too far left wing to be taken seriously.

It is in no way a sign of racism or ineptitude, but rather of voter indifference. The vast majority of this country doesn;t vote, and that majority cannot therefore have their voice heard, especially the collective voices of the various minority groups in this nation. Polls and surveys are also not always spread over certain populations, and are easily manipulated by certain people, making information hard to trust.

The country hasn't been ready for any of the candidates who have run. Since Obama won't get the nomination for 2008, we still won't have a black president.

Obama is the first candidate who has had this high of ratings in the polls. Although he probably won't win he is still a first term Senator & is sure to be re-elected in Illinois. He's young & has a bright future.

They haven't been running. Colin Powell could have been president for many years by now.

So far ALL Democrat black candidates have only represented the narrow special interests of blacks.
None will succeed until they represent the majority of Americans.

I think Barack Obama would be an excellent president. I also think Jesse Jackson would be an excellent president. Jesse Jackson seems like one of the bravest people ever in history. There are probably hundreds of people who could do better than those who are elected, but they are prevented from participating.
