Month-long event, or non-event as the case may be. Instead, shop at your local small business grocer, buy gifts from someone in your neighbourhood that makes crafts or a senior's home, or buy nothing at all! Who is with me?

I'm already boycotting Wal-mart, for taking over too many other stores. I can do a little more, but that's all I can promise.

Good luck! It's a good idea!

Who is with you, lets see...........
Hippies, I know a couple that would say they didn't buy anything in August, but the truth is the guy who grew there weed for them did, and they bought it from him.
Umm, the homeless are a great group to market this to as most shopping for them is done at small local markets.

Unfortunately the person in your neighborhood who makes crafts, or a small local grocer, both got the base materials from a corporation, or conglomerate, so the entire thing is utterly useless. But thanks for trying to make a difference.

Count me out.

Its not possible, even your local stores buy from the bigger wholesalers. They just get a worse price because they buy in smaller lots.

+1 FTW.

Oh, and BTW, nobody can live on crafts for a month. Even eatting all the gingerbread houses your senior citizens can make ges old after a while.

Never heard of this. I think it would be a fun thing to do, only if it was a huge movement, and not just me being the only person I know boycotting Walmart- that wouldn't make sense.

I am with you. I am saving up for a car and a condo and didn't plan on spending much money anyway. But I have never heard of this before. Is this something you are making up on the spot? If so, I am still with you.

I think maybe you just made this up. But I try to never shop at the Walmarts of the world!

I'll give it a try. I need to walk and eat salads to lose weight anyway and save up for my camping trip.
