Does anyone know what this bug is? It was in our garage on some wood. We live in Ridgecrest, CA.

that looks like a wolf spider.

Yea, I know they get huge, but they come in all sizes until they are fully grown. They also carry their babies on their backs. They are very common here in Oklahoma.
So is the brown recluse which is a tiny spider.

It most certainly isn't a brown recluse; we don't have them in California. Look it up on the UC Riverside ag extension site. There's an entomologist who specializes in spiders who is a professor there.

If it is, stay away from it. Any bite from one of those and you have to remove the infected area and surrounding of the bite.
I would possibly just do an image search on yahoo and try to find one that looks like it.

sptfyr i'm sorry but those wolf spiders are huge! It'd have to be a baby one if it was ;)
