Seems when I need him, he is not here for me. I don't know if I am really looking for any kind of answer here. Maybe I am just venting. He leaves home occasionally, without saying a word to anyone. Someone will ask "Where's Dad?" We'll look and the vehicle is gone. He doesn't come home till later. If he doesn't help fix my problem tonight, it will probably be too late tomorrow. I am very mad and hurt. I am ASSUMING he is at the bar. But this is how he works it.

What a crappy Dad and husband.
He needs to get his act together, maybe even go to A.A.
This isn't fair to you or the kids.

Sounds like the biggest mistake is being married to a man who runs for the bar at any given moment.

You never stated what the mistake was that you made that you think he can help you fix, so I can't comment on that part of your question.

You need to have a serious talk with this man about the fact that he leaves you and his child/children in favor of being away from home and at the bar.

Good luck to you and your child/children.

It sounds like he doesn't respect you. And if you allow this behavior (enable) you don't respect yourself either. If he would rather be somewhere else instead of with you and his family there is a reason. You have to either find and solve the problem, or try to and realize that it can't be solved. If it can't be solved, you make a decision to change your life. It takes two equal partners for a relationship to work. Problems in life are either solved, avoided/covered up, or accepted. Which do you want to do?
