I read that 2007 Wimbledon Woman final had high TV rating because of Venus in the final.
So, I guess all Williams Final would be more TV rating.
What do you think?
The Drama..??

yups its undeniable...

tennis is BIG in the United States of America...who's bigger in womens tennis then the williams sisters? US citizens regardless whether they luv em or hate em...will tune in to see these sisters rip it out on court

if u luv em...you will cheer your heart out for 2 of the most powerful women in the sport

if u hate em...you will relish at the time they will complain for everything..put down their opponents...and wait for em to lose

regardless an American in any almost any sport will result in high ratings...because Americans support other Americans regardless

Well since they are the only two Americans who consistently win grandslam titles, their name is going to attract more viewers than other players. The only other person who really draws in the casual American fans is Maria Sharapova (again because people know her name). Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo and Jelena Jankovic (as good as they are) don't have the star power of the Williams sisters or Sharapova in the United States.

The fact that Venus and Serena are dramatic (sometimes melodramatic/overdramatic) players that have a dynamic powerful aggresive game also makes them interesting, not to mention the fact that they happen to be two of the very few black players on tour and also happen to be sisters makes that drama a bit interesting even to non tennis fans.

Yes it will happen again and again when either or both playing.
A all Williams final would be welcome and good for tennis in
US.
I do not see the drama, but it is their athleticism and their
competition that makes it more interesting. Of course the
commentary at times make it feel that there is a drama....

In the U.S., they remain the most recognizable players to casual tennis fans or sports fans who tune in for "name" players that they know. It isn't the drama as much as it is familiarity with who they are and the accomplishments they have had in Grand Slam championships.

yes, because of the drama but also how they play with fierce competition. Another player who also tends to be watched cause of her powerful game is maria sharapova.
