a friend of mine has little finger food snacks that once it hits a childs mouth it desolves, i went to the store and bought some, because she said she started her kid on them young.. but my daughter is 6 months old and is teething but hasnt gotten any yet, however she loves to chew on things when i started her on baby food [like the vegies and fruits, no cereal i was told not to by 3 doctors] at 3 months [with doctors permission] she always seemed to bite down and swish it in her mouth before she would swallow.. when can i start her on these little finger food snacks??? im terrified that she may choke if i start her to young..
Im a first time mom, wayyyy new at this

My daughter sits on her own now, she has been for a while, she doesnt like to be on her belly to even crawl, she's been trying to stand on her own and walk, but she walks with her holding on to our fingers, and she pulls herself up..
and yes, they are the GERBER things. [lol]

its fine to start them now
my daughter is 7 months with out teeth now, and she mashes the gerber puffs with her gums, munches on crackers, and the bitter biscuits
she will be fine, but make sure you monitor her while eating any food

My son had the same problems. He gets occupational therapy for some fine motor issues that he has so his therapist gave us some pointers and actually fed him a couple times. She said thicken stage 2 baby food with cereal, just a little bit at first. Then add some little pieces of a saltine cracker, let it sit for a little bit so the cracker softens some, and then try feeding it to her. Every couple days I would make it thicker. He was taking it down like a champ so I tried Stage 3 food. He ate that like crazy then, so I gave him a graham cracker. Graham crackers are great because they taste good and get all gooey in their mouths. After he was good with that I tried again with the fruit puffs. He doesn't choke at all with them now. He just started eating table food within the past two weeks. Just watch out for plain dry saltine crackers. I'm not sure if it's the cracker or my son, but he still chokes on them. My fiance always tells me that kids have to learn sometime. I know it's hard though. I still get paranoid about him choking. Good luck!

I started my daughter on those around that age. She actually had a pincher grip at that age, but she still didn't get many in her mouth. The first times I fed her I broke each one into about 6 pieces. Then we moved up to half pieces, then the whole ones. I have discovered my daughter has a gag reflex, she'll gag a bit if it slides back in her throat too far but she isn't actually choking, she likes watching mommy try not to freak out or give her extra attention, lol. As long as she's sitting up unassisted and trying to grasp them, it's probably safe to give them to her w/ close supervision. Expect all sorts of faces and reactions, it's new sensations for her as well. Good luck :D

She is ready for finger foods. Not having teeth doesn't make much difference- her gums are hard enough to mush up most food (NOT things like meat or hard fruits/veggies like carrots or apples, etc) She CAN eat things like pieces of banana, canned or cooked fruits like peaches or pears, ripe cantaloupe, watermelon, etc., well-cooked veggies and even Cheerios- just watch her while she's eating, start off with one teeny piece at a time and make encouraging , yummy sounds! One of my kids had no teeth until she was 11 months old and was eating pieces of hot dogs and everything else we ate before she ever got a tooth! The baby I nanny for didn't get a tooth until her 1st bithday and was eating everything under the sun. All my kids and grandkids as well as the ones I nanny for are off of baby food totally by 6 months. There is plenty of good, healthy and easy food to feed your baby and to let them feed herself! Good Luck.

i was the same way with my now 9 month old but she wasn't my first!!! lol
I would say if she can "chew" then try him on the puffs because those will disolve in her mouth and you really don't have to wrry about her choking on them.
as far as other things i woud wait another month until you are comfortable giving themt o him then start on things like, cheeses, toast, cheerios, noodles, anything that is easily disolvable in the mouth.
my baby is 9 months and doesn't have any teeth but eats pretty much everything we eat now

are they those Gerber things? Read the back of the container...I think it gives you a guideline of ages or ability level (sitting on own, etc) My daughter is 6 months and I haven't given her those yet.
