Why not just save yourself the bother of getting up and going to work by just sleeping late and joining the Poor? Not working and having nothing seems to be better than working and still having nothing?

Yea, I guess if you're poor that doesn't mean you don't want to eat. some people don't have the best health or advantages as others do but they still have to hold onto that sense of dignity that comes with getting up everyday and earning a living.

I know all about this: Stay in school and get an education or you will work for minum wage the rest of your life and never earn a living wage which means you cannot afford to live.
If you stop working completely you cannot afford to eat and then you die. Poor people still eat they live in government housing and drive old cars and live on beans and corn bread.
Or tortillas what ever. But they buy clothes at good will and wear hand me downs.
So stay in school and get an education and don't get pregnant.

Sleeping late where?
Working poor people are barely holding on to their lives. If they aren't working, chances are they will find themselves homeless too.

It's a sad statement about society, but it's very true.

You can be working, and still be homeless, not just merely "poor." Sometimes minimum wage is NOT a living wage.

That reminds me of the quote...

They told me practice makes perfect, but humans aren't perfect so I stopped trying. :)

The real question is why would you give up? Just because someone is poor does not give them an excuse to QUIT. Their lives are WORTH living!!!

Because they have a family to support and working is probably keeping them fed and off the streets

Maybe it's because so many places of employment don't pay a living wage.
