You should have bought a Ninja! They're fun to ride after drinking a six pack of Mountain Dew!

i have an '05 sportster, the 1200 roadster. will u actually listen to another sportster owner that doesnt just 'bar hop' on the scoot?
take the battery cover off, its on the left side. now take a 10mm box end wrench, and take off the hot wire. with a small wire brush, brush both sides of the wire terminal. i can guarentee u that the terminal will look alot better havin that corrosion off. replace terminal, and snug it up good; if u dont, it can vibrate loose enough eventually, and it will shut down the bike.
our charging system wont charge the battery up until ridden 20 miles at least, so short hops are actually harder on the battery.

One of my friends has had this problem since day one with his 2006 Sportster. He took it several time back to HD but they said there is nothing they can do. The advaise they gave him is to let it rest for a little. His engine runs way too hut. The bikes does not have a cooling sytems and here in texas it gets very hot. This only happens after riding for like longer than thirty minutes or longer.

I'll go with firecracker on the bat terminals. dont just look at em put a wrench on em and give a 1/4 turn. See if it dont straighten out. Identical situation on my 04 custom about a year after I bought it. Might check the other end to where they attach to the starter and ground to the engine too.

Idea #1: battery terminals. They may not look dirty, yet could still have a thin oxide coating.
Happened to me once (in the driveway).

sounds like the breaker is weak it works by heat when you get a short, possible it is catching the heat from the engine and opening it self,it work with a bimetalic strip, replace with a new one
