I ate a peach and want to grow a peach tree for myself, I was wondering if its possible to grow it by just putting the pit into soil and water? About how long does it take to actually see results above the soil? How many times should I water it? does it like to be in the sun at all times, or half and half? And does it even work?
I enjoy watching plants grow from seed and was wondering if it actually works.
thx and please give lots of details

You can. You might have to wait about 10 years to see any fruit on it.

You can get a dried seed to sprout and then get a little seedling but that is a long way from there to a tree. Keep it watered and in sun till it has several leaves on it. That is a seedling that can thrive after that point.

I would not recommend growing a single peach tree from a single peach pit. You can try and you might be lucky but the odds are heavily against it. Professional growers plant selected stock under controlled conditions of light, water, nutrients, temperature and daily attention by trained personnel. They produce seedings that are transplanted and cared for in a different area until they have plants that a few inches high this is a process of months or even years to produce a tree a couple of feet high that you can buy, plant and be reasonably sure of getting a nice tree. If you want a peach tree buy a small one from a nursery. If you want to experiment with growing from pits I would encourage you to study and plan and I wish you success. But you will be years away from enjoying a peach from your own tree Lots of luck. don. ps there are lots of good gardening sites that have great information about this.

Yes you can, just make sure the seed is good and very dried, plant it appx.1/2 deep, watre it twice a week.It will grow if it has proper light and temp.I grew one in a pot,and my son has one in the ground,it's 3years old and about 2ft high.

This says it takes a few years to grow it from the pit.
Also: this was asked before, and I think the answerer used the above site.
