we have 3 laptops in our apartment but none of us own a pc.

There is if you are a kid and live for online console gaming.
You need to have a PC to connect to the router to set it up, but then you dont need one after that. Try to get a friend to bring over his.\/her laptop for a few minuets and do the initial router setup.

You do not need to be hard wired, at my dads house we have 2 Windows laptops, a Mac Mini, and a Macbook, all of which are connected wirelessly and i also set up the router via wireless

There is no point having broadband without a pc.
