The one thing that you love to do that you are not willing to give up for any reason?...It may cause you extreme pain, and you're willing to endure that, just to be able to participate still.

Please everyone...even Da Jackal is entitled to his opinion. He could have worded it in a more socially acceptable way, and he will not receive a thumbs up from me because of it...but that doesn't make his opinion WRONG.

Sylvia, yes getting "carried away" caring for our flowers is always a good excuse when that gosh-darn recipe just doesn't work out, isn't it? :)

do I have to choose just one???? No matter what I would choose, if that were all I could do, I would be bored with it. Hmmmm.. Rita, you come up with difficult questions!
Ok, I will take all three parameters into account and list only those that cause: Extreme pain, 'endure', and participate:
1)Working out...matters not whether I enjoy or not, if I stop, I will fall apart...a fate worse than death
2)On-line Bridge: the extreme pain of embarrassment when I play badly, and the joy of playing better than anyone else has played a hand (talk about insanity!)
3) Driving my Crossfire Convert...extreme pain when I get caught speeding, and the alternative would be to get back inot motorcycling...(my days as a cycler have been ended by my business partner who claims the business would dissolve without me (I think he exaggerates).
4) Dancing: My feet hurt just thinking about it, but a life without dance would really be boring
5) On-line friends here at YA....Painful in writing about myself...I reveal far too much about my lunacy, but often learn that I am not the only crazy person in the world (refreshing)
6) Painful to realize that my family does not register in the top catagories...it is more a 'been there, done that,' they have their own lives...let them make fools of themselves as I have of me.
Just one???? I can't do it.

If I'm only allowed to choose one, that would have to be my flower garden that I view from the kitchen window.I can't remember how many kitchen disasters I've had cos I spied a plant that needed some attention. If I spot one I leave whatever I'm doing and pop out to sort it, then I get carried away and do some more. I lose myself in my own little world till the meal or baking that's in the oven starts to waft towards me with a very burnt smell!!! lol
Most dangerous one was when using a knife to untape my canes, I was to impatient to fetch scissors, my dahlias really needed to be staked that very minute, knife slipped and went right through my hand. Never did get a meal that night cos I was in hospital instead! lol
YA is becoming just the same scenerio cos I've left the cooker on downstairs now and got carried away!
Got to go in a hurry!!!!!!!!! x

French. I am working toward getting into The Sorbonne(For those who don't know that's the prestigious University in Paris.)I love studying, it has caused me some pain especially when I study for over 6hrs. non-stop and my arm muscles are sore, but it never stops me. To me French isn't just a second language, it is a lifestyle and if someone told me I had to give it up I would feel so discouraged and let down because it has actually become a big part of my life and is very near to my heart. I dream in French, I listen to music in French...etc. I started learning French when I was 11yrs. of age and have been learning off and on for about 10yrs. now. Anywhere I go in the world they have to have a good French program and I have to be able to participate in it or I just won't go.

When I'm indoors it's working creatively. Writing, working with wood, trying to find a new way to paint now that my hands don't work like they used to.
When I'm outdoors I find great peace and fulfillment working with the plants and taking care of the wild animals by keeping several bird baths and feeding stations.
At the end of the day I feel better knowing I've gotten at least some of the drudge work done... cleaning etc. around the house. But I feel great when I've spent a productive day working on a piece of personal expression. And I feel useful when I provide for the plants and animals.

Calling my mother how she is going, I can skip my visit but not this 2 -3 times a day phone calls.
She may need somehelp.
It's a pleasure because if I dont, I am worried .
I might as well call her because many times I was busy and I forgot to bring my mobile ; my mother always feel unease and weak when she could not reach me and haven't had my call .
So calling her is a way to have a peacefull day. LOL

The one thing that makes me happiest, feel joy, the hardest thing to give up ..... my kids, the little guy, (grandson) all together - having a good time, no one arguing or sulking.
Cooking sunday dinner for them - and having my sons and exe DIL's 2 dogs happy and with us, my daughters dog with us, my cat, my daughters cat -- one big happy family.
But just for me, I couldnt give up photography, or painting.
