I know they get probably thousands of orders a day, but I recently ordred a Inspiron 1520 and the estimated arrival date is over a month away. Does it really take that long?

I check the progress and it keeps saying in production, I did change some of the default options up a bit, but that shouldn't delay it that long. I also ordered the generic case which will take longer to get here.

Dell laptops are very customizable. because of this they have to be able to put any part in on demand. this takes a little longer because of the many options they have so when they are building it they dont necessarily have one put together with your specifications, it has to be built from scratch pretty much.

If you recently ordered one, don't you get a tracking number? You can enter it and see how far along the process it is. It took just a week for mine to arrive, although I work abroad (in Malaysia) and shipping only took like 2 days.

I don't know why yours should be taking more than a month. Log into the Dell site and see the time estimates for each part of the process.

I got my Inspron 6000 a while back and the didn't take that long so I'm not sure why it takes so long for you. Maybe there is a part that you requested that isn't available right now or maybe they are busy right now...

They are assembled in either Indonesia or Malaysia. Check the box when you get it.
