i think i have black mold in my apartment how can i find out if i do?

I live in san anotnio texas. my ac was leaking for 2 months before the apartment complex fixed it now the ceiling were it was leaking is all black. the apartment complex will not fix it. who can i call to have it looked at and tested. i had to send my daughter to her grandmothers because i don't want her to get sick and i am missing her dearly and would like for her to be able to come home

I'd call the city and ask if the health department can help you from the county.

You can have a mold remediation company come out and test for the presence of mold. I'd check the phone book.

After you have the testing done, make sure to send a copy of the test with a registered letter to your landlord demanding he repair the damage.

If they do not repair the problem immediately, be sure to contact an attorney for assistance.

I agree with the first two comments. I assume that by you saying that the complex fixed the ac that it was their responsibilty. Under penalty of law, they are responsible to repair any damages from their own negligence. You did the right thing by getting your daughter out... NOW!... YOU NEED TO GET YOURSELF OUT!!!!!! BLACK MOLD IS DEADLY AND IT CAN KILL YOU!!!!! Call the health dept., they will know what to do!

First of all, is the ac provided by your complex? If so they should take care of it. Check with your tenent/landlord laws. Your landlord should be responsible.
