I will ask the dr but I'm curious for those who have had a c section was your husband allowed to be in the room with you? I am guessing that only one person can be in there with you as long as there are no complications right? I am scheduled to deliver vaginally but I am high risk and I will probably have to have a c section so I am just trying to prepare. Thanks for the comments in advance.

I don't think it will be an emergency c section because I am scheduled to be induced but the dr is only giving me 24 hours to deliver and if I don't have her by that time then they will do a c section. I am high risk because I have Cholestasis and you can't carry the baby past 37 weeks...the dr isn't comfortable with me being in labor for three days as that can happen when you get induced.

your husband will be allowed into th OR as long as he's dressed in his scrubs. Yes only one persona be there but you can have up to 3 people in the recovery room with you. I have had 3 c-sections and will have to have a 4th with this pregnancy.
Make sure you tell your husband to get at least 2 weeks off just in case. The week you are in the hospital and to help you once you are out of the hospital. The first week at home is so important to have someone help you to and from the bathroom, helping to get the baby for you.
Good Luck!

I had an emergency c-section and my husband WAS allowed to be in the room w/me the whole time. My sister on the other hand had a regular c-section and her husband not allowed at all. I think it depends on the hospital and their policies. I would check w/them and see what they say. Good luck. By the way, I wouldn't have chosen to have him any other way. I had the best experience w/my c-section! I was up and walking around that same day.

yes.. It is generally accepted practice to allow husbands to watch the C-section, though he must stay behind a divider, most likely next to your head. The rest of you will be on the other side of the divider.

He can, if he like step to the side or look over the divider if he wants to witness his child coming into the world. However, he will not be allowed to film it. Also, they really do warn the fathers that it can be somewhat disturbing to watch your loved one receive major abdomenal surgery. It is a common operation, but it is actually far more intrusive than you might think. The doctors will probably initiate the surgery without him in the room, and then as the baby gets ready to make his or her debut, they will bring him into the O.R. They'll queue him as they pull the baby out.

And if he was like me, he'll take one peak to see her half in and half out and then get right back to holding your hand.

Yes my husband came into the room after they got started. And then he was there until the baby was born. He left with our daughter. Most of the operation takes place after the baby is born. I was induced as well due to a clotting disorder, but after 12 hours of hard larbor I never dilated and had to have a c-section

At the vast majority of hospitals the father is brought into the operating room. He will have to wear a mask and scrubs over his clothes. If they are able to do the section with you awake--you have an epidural of course, then he will be with you. But in the case of a crash c-section (emergency) then they may not have time to give the epidural and will have to put you to sleep. He will NOT be allowed in the OR under these circumstances.

My husband was not allowed to accompany me into the operating room when I had my cesarean, but it was because it was an emergency situation and I was put under general anesthesia.

Every woman I have known that has had a cesarean that did not require general anesthesia has been allowed to have their husband (or another support person) stay with them during the surgery. Yes, only one "visitor" is allowed as it is already crowded and busy in there.

I understand that if there are no serious complications (life-threatening), most doctors/ hospitals allow one support person into the delivery room. My husband has been in for both of our (MY) c-sections, and the first one was kind of an emergency.

Generally they do allow oe person in the room with you but it depends on hospital procedures and what caused your pregnancy to be high risk. Call the hospital you're delivering at and ask to speak to labor and delivery they can answer all those questions right now for you :)

I had a C-section. And yes, they allowed my husband in there with me. You might want to ask, like you said, your Dr. first and see what kind of regulations the hospital has.

I did not have a c-section but in the child classes they said that if it is a non-scheduled c-section that my husband could not be in the room, but if it was scheduled he could be there.

You don't want a c-section unless you really have to get it. They cut you open and it is difficult to move around after the surgery.
