The rough times in life taught me to laugh at problems because, solved or unsolved, they too pass away. Rough times strengthens us when there are people around us who loves us and comforts us, when we listen to the problems of other people. Relationships and communication with others makes us aware that we are not the only ones undergoing rough times, and that is comfort enough. I view myself to be lucky when I see the others who are going through rougher times than me. It had brought out the best in me and made me a a good counsellor to others, not necessarily by helping them out, but by mere understanding and words of kindness and encouragement.

That one cannot chose their lot in life, for starters. I'd like to say it has taught me to be resilient and that it's built my character. But for the most part, I have to say it's given me a very pessimistic view of life, in general. Some people are blessed and some are lucky. The rest have to learn to make due---like taking scraps and making a scrap quilt. I fall into the last category the majority of the time. I think I've learned that the good times are usually good enough to make it worth sticking around during the rough times. I think I wouldn't be here otherwise.

Hi friend,
I always have this mindset when faced with rough times:

Imagine yourself in a gym, with no mirrors..U pump iron, you worked out thoughly..There will be days that you feel like giving up..But u pushed on with it...One day, u came out and saw a well sculptured body in the mirror. And u asked "who's that??". U know who that person is? THAT'S YOU. That's the fruit of those rough times.. That's how things work.

That most of the so-called "rough times" are actually brought on by my own actions in some regard or by my lack of action in some other regard.
I AM responsible for every circumstance and condition in my own life and I just can't blame anyone else regardless my desire to do so.
I am my own worst enemy and I try to stay out of my own way more at this time of my life. ( I am now 59)
These are my own observations of matters of principle rather than an observation of circumstances !!

Jealousy is pure evil. I am always going to be more fortunate than millions of people, simply because of the country I live in. So, I should always be thankful for what I have and pretty much never feel sorry for myself. It's funny, because both the good and bad times have made me more confident and optomistic about life.

To rely on myself, in the end we should all be able to clean up our own garbage.
Yet not be too proud to reject well meant help when offered.
And it taught me to carry on, not to cling too much to material things or try to ' restore ' things to what they were and mourn my
'losses'.
It can be remarkably refreshing to go in an unexpected, new direction.Sometimes it's rewarding to take the road less traveled.

I have been at "rock bottom" several times and it taught me that when I hit the bottom, there is no where left to go but up! And it's true!
