I'm not sure what race I put for applications when filling them out. I'm Southern Italian, Swedish, Scottish, Inuit, Romani and Irish. I'm kind of a mix.

My skin is fairly light olive, but everyone I meet is very surprised that I'm part Swedish and Scottish, and when in school, I was asked why I checked 'White' when the teacher was helping us fill out the front page of those stupid CAT tests.

I don't know what to put on this application.

This is a great question and comes up a lot now! 1. The good news is that our world is becoming more mixed than ever. All races are spreading the love baby. 2. Even better news is that I recently saw a choice on one of these forms that said "Pacific Islander". I'm sure it means Hawaiian but WHO CARES! LoL! I love the way it sounds, plus I live in California. So I will use "Pacific Islander" from now on. 3. So in the future just mark "Other" and then have fun with the definition. The choice is for demographic stat reports but it makes a lot of mixed humans feel like crap (when having to decide). Peace. - CigarPlayer

I just leave it blank. There is no such think as a "race". People have what are called racial characteristics, but there is no definition of what a "race" is, or how many "races" there are in the human race.

We are all just human beings. Some lighter, some darker, some tall and some short. Putting us in categories as members of various "races" is just a way to call attention to superficial differences in our appearance. It doesn't serve any use full purpose. It can be used to create hatred. That's why you see it one government forms.

Put the race that is in the most minority so that you have a better chance of getting accepted under affirmative action. No one really wants to help anyone white, so I'd put Inuit.

I never understood why all the forms in the States ask that. I've not seen a single form in Europe that asks you to declare your ethnicity.

Just put other, that's what I do. Why do you have to label what you are. I come from a very mixed back ground too.
