Do you think you should leave the past in the past, by this i mean friends from school. I have recently been on websites like friends reunited, myspace and facebook and found practically all of my friends and year at school.
I have been chatting to some of my best friends of the time and it feels really weird, as we were so close then and so different now.
What does everyone think about the past, do you move on and distance yourself from it?
I have been told i'm wasting my time :s

All the years I have been out of school, I have seen my best friends 5 times... I have been out 40 years this year......... we have had 5 class reunions.... I went my way and they went theirs..... You had totally different ideas then, you are now older...... if you enjoy chatting with them do it...... if not...... just keep in touch occasionally and let it go.......

Honestly i think it depends on the type of person you are. If you are the type who has allot of friends and like to keep in contact with people then do.
Remember love makes the world go around, and we have enough enemy's in this world.
Sure keep in contact with them, if it only means chatting on line go for it - it's not hurting no one.
You can't just forget the past either, the past is what made us who we are.
No ones asking you to start hanging around with each other again, as people do move on and people are different but no harm in keeping in touch with them and share old memories and new memories.
Some will make you laugh, some will make you cry, but friends should be forever, don't just leave it lye.
Take care, and best of luck :-)

You have a very good question.
As a general rule, if you once had a very good friendship with a person, and have a heartfelt desire to re-connect with them, and they were a good person, then, by all means, send them an invitation to re-connect with them. I am sure that person will be delighted to hear from you.
However, if the person in the past was just an acquaintance, or there wasn't really any friendship, then there is no point to contact them.
I have connected with only a few people from my past and the results were very good.
Life is so full of new opportunities. It might be advised to meet new people rather than connect with people you didn't have much friendship with in the past.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Life's journey takes us all down different roads so it is only natural that a lot of people who were in our past are not there for a reason now. It doesn't mean anything but is nice to check and see how others have fared in their lives. But it is foolish to believe that things can be as they were so accept that, say hi and wish them luck then get on with your life.

Just recently went back to u.k after 19 years to see family and friends, i realised that the people i had been thinkin of all those years had also moved on, it was good to catch up and as part of my past they were important but as part of now they are just people i knew. The people i know now are much more important to me keep your memories of people as they were.

I had different best friends in Middle School than High School. Things change, people change. You just got to be true to yourself.

People are here now...memories are in the past. Enjoy their company, but look to tomorrow, not yesterday.
