I am sorry . I have been answering your questions this past week .I am not sure why he died .I can tell you it was not because he had not eatten in 10 days . He may have had a respiratory infection when you got it . What where your temps and what kind of substrate did you have it on ? I think I would call the place where you bought him from and see if they will refund your money . Its worth a try .You could take it into a reptile vet and have a necropsy done to find out the cause but I do not know how much that would cost .

A dark spot on his under side could be impaction , blood clot or scale rot . Usually scale rot is more brown though .

I've seen cases of sudden death where the snake will bite itself, seemingly in it's death throes. It's possible that your snake was an import (petstores commonly get them as they are cheaper than captive born) and they will end up with huge loads of parasites. Parasites can be fatal. Unless you had a fecal, there's no telling if she had them. A necropsy would tell you but you'll need to refridgerate the animal to do it. Do not freeze as it will damage the tissue too much to tell anything. Sometimes there's just no telling why they die. They just do. I'm very sorry for your loss, and it might be better to get a known captive born and bred ball python from a breeder next time. That way you'll know for certain that they are healthy and clean of parasites.

The green colour on the underside is the area around the liver. After death the bile will seep into the surrounding tissue and it will appear green through the skin. It is not an indication of the cause of death.

Ten days is not very long, I would contact the place where you purchased it from.
