A remedy for a sunburn i found online says... Dissolve some baking soda in water and make a compress using a clean cloth. Another remedy is to add 1/2 cup of baking soda to a tepid bath and soak. Instead of drying the affected area with a towel, let it air dry. Baking soda is cooling and will help the skin retain moisture.

I am a 13 year old girl. I have my period right now. If i use that remedie, ((the bath one, cuz i have it on my arms, legs, and chest)) is there a possibility i could get an infection? I do use tampons...so would they help? Answers greatly appreciated!

The vagina has two sets of lips "doors" as I'm sure you've noticed. Nothing will get in there unless you put it there. Using a tampon will keep your bath water clean.

My daddy has had skin cancers removed from his face, arms, back, etc. several times, and now he has to see the dermatologist once a month for the rest of his life to get the cancers zapped. He was an baseball umpire when I was a kid. He wore long sleeves, but it was before sunscreen. If you don't want skin cancer, honey, don't burn.

And I have a better sunburn relief. In the store there's an aloe vera gel that has lidocaine in it. Lidocaine is a topical pain medication. Your dentist uses it. This stuff cools like you wouldn't believe, and it moisturizes at the same time. I'm dark red-headed, freckle-faced and NEVER fail to get a burn anytime I'm out without my sunscreen. Take care of your skin, sweety. You don't want to look like an old hag when you're 50.

The vineagar fix works well for me. Mom would soak an old washcloth in vineagar and let it sit on the burn for a few minutes. Aloe, aloe vera, Solarcaine, all good stuff too. Just a word of reminder-warning - do NOT put butter or anything that is like a gel (vaseline-like) on the sunburn UNLESS it says it is for sunburn treatment. (I've never heard of a vaseline product for sunburn, but I could be wrong.) Things like this actually trap the heat in the lower layers of the skin and cause more damage.

No, you should not get an infection. Many women that have vaginal irritation also use a baking soda soak to soothe.
However, addressing your sunburn, please wear sunscreen in the future. You do not want wrinkles and worse before you are even 30 do you?!
Aloe Vera gel (can be bought in drug stores) is great for sun burns. Feel better soon!

I dont think that baking soda will hurt you at all although you might want to use a tampon - just because taking a bath with your period isnt the most lovely thing but either way it wont cause an infection or anything if the only thing added is baking soda- thats pretty safe. You could always just mix the baking soda with water in a bowl and use a cloth or sponge to put it on the burned areas too.

no you will not get an infection...go ahead and soak..they even use a baking soda soak for yeast infections to calm the Itch so it works on the same principal for sunburn..try some Noxzema for after your bath no need to rinse it off that works wonders to...

It should not give you an infection if you change your tampon after bathing and dry your private areas thoroughly. take some tylenol and if there is blistering consult your mother or an aunt; you may need medical care since you have so extensive a burned area.

No. But you can also use an oatmeal bath like Aveeno in the bath. Try aloe vera on your burn, as it will keep you skin moist and help it heal.

Best bet is to buy some aloe vera or if you have an aloe vera plant, better yet, get it from there.
