okay today at work 4 people got laid off and of all people my dad went to the head of the department and asked that he get laid off instead of one of the other people...this woman just had her second child and her husband is a resident in a hospital...why in the world would someone try to give up their job for someone??? I know my dad is a nice guy...but common on..So here is the question..would you give up your job for another co-worker???

Under certain circumstances and if I could afford it, then yes I would give it up for someone less fortunate.

Many people would not, but some would, perhaps your father was hoping to get laid off so he could get unemployment and also help someone along the way, but I give it the benefit of the doubt and say he did it because he's sick or just a great person.

I'm not in a position to give up my job for the charity of someone else. Perhaps you dad believes he will quickly find another position. Also, it could be that this is just the start of the layoffs and so it's not as big a sacrifice as you think.

Depends, would I be able to get another job? and how badly did the coworker need the job... those are the things I would think about

no because in less then six months i will be getting married and my bf has 3 kids and at this moment he has no job

no not unless my co-worker wants to take care of me.If they take my job then where would i be?.on the street.
