Get some electrical cleaner. Flush out and blow it out with compressed air if you have it.
The wd-40 may have started eating at the plastic,it contains a solvent.
Something like this maybe should be lubed w/dry graphite powder.

It's been said a hundred times on here "WD-40 is not a oil, it's a cleaning fluid" so, what you did was clean the oil out and made it squeak more?

Use some light machine oil. Silicone should be better.

The speaking is probably from plastic rubbing against dirt build-build up, when you sprayed in the WD-40 it might have pushed even more dirt into the prblem area, Try getting some regular air spray, sold in alot of computer stores, and try to spray some and get the clog out, you might want to take the handle out of the base to do so.

WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. It is not intended to be a lubricant, that just happens to be a side effect. You should an ether based electric contact cleaner, then use a silicone based lubricant.

WD-40 is sticky and collects dirt and dust. Clean it out and use a silicone spray for lubrication.

Wd 40 is not for plastic products. Use something like a faucet grease or a light coat of lithium.

Man! That sucks! I thought WD-40 fixed everything! You know what probably won't work, but you should try anyway? Duct tape....that also fixes everything.

I would take apart and clean it with a little rubbing alcohol.

duck tape fixes most things, but don't know about your joystick.
