I have a HP Pavilion a1410n and all of a sudden the monitor does not work but the computer and all the lights work. I checked the monitor with a different PC and it works fine. The computer fans started to spin faster than usual. I got a new video card and that still does not solve the problem.

By chance when you installed the new video card, you plugged the monitor into the VGA port that comes standard on the motherboard instead of the new video card?

I would have suggested a new video card as the original appears to have failed. You apparently also considered this. If the new video card drivers were properly installed, you should have a working monitor.

If the cable is stressed badly, that could be the problem but not likely.

You state the computer fan started to spin faster - suggesting that the fan perceived the internal temperature was hotter. If the fan continues to spin fast, there may be something else failing but I really cannot come up with anything.
