should i get a computer with a processor speed of 1.8 ghz dual core or one that is 2.4 ghz no dual core?the other spec for them are nearly identical.

some details are:
the 1.8 is a laptop and costs 499.99

and the 2.4ghz is a desktop and cost 414.99

that really depends on what the other specs are, you saying they are close, but if you cant figure out which is better than maybe the numbers arent so close and maybe they matter more than u think. my guess without knowing all the specs is the dual core 1.8

There is no big difference between 1.8 Ghz and 2.4Ghz. I would focus on the Dual Core Processor that will help you process two tasks at the same time.
Conclusion:
I would go for the 1.8Ghz with the Intel Core Processor. You may think it doesn't power that much, but the result will be very rewarding and the multi tasking will come in useful to you.

Going forward, software architecture is moving towards better use of dual cores (multithreading and such). I would get a dual core processor if all other things are equal, including price.

Dual core is superior. If you don't want a laptop you can get a dual core desktop.

Even with the slight speed reduction...the dual core would be better.
I myself would not buy either!

Whichever has the HIGHER hertz USUALLY is better. I'd say the 2.4
