What position should I go for on my high school's sophomore football team?

Question

I am 5'9", 220, very good hands(catching), very good throwing power and okay accuracy,very good awareness, love trucking people(LOL), and have no fears of being tackled, or trucked(as if anybody really does), uhhhh, oh, I have a strong upper body with good lower body strength, and have a very, very good reaction time. This will be my first time playing football on a "real" team since like '03, but play a lot at the local park.I'm thinkin' 'bout fullback or defensive lineman. What do you think?

At your height and weight as a person who likes to hit people you should play safety. As a defensive back your good hands will serve you well and you can also return kicks. You are too small to play defensive line, fullback, tight end, receiver, or quarterback. If you grow a couple more inches later you can move to cornerback.

This depends on who is actually evaluating you talent wise. You may think you are good at some aspects, but in fact, you may be mediocre.

When I came to play varsity, I mostly played park ball - I dominated everyone there, I was much faster, I put moves/burned people. When it came time to play real football, it was a total reversal.

It is a complete team game, and playing in a certain system, you cant freelance plays or it will leave your guy open, no matter how good or how well you think you can read the play.

Second, you need to start conditioning, the season starts in a month I believe. Doesn't matter if you can hit like a truck, but you can only do it for 20seconds every 2-3 minutes and you are continually exhausted.

Third, if you like playing defense, and you think you are fast 4.2-4.6s 40yard dash, play FS/SS - 4.5-4.9 - LB - slower - Line.

If you like scoring but putting the hurt on people, go with TE/FB. Even as a blocker you'll be able to lay people out.

Don't worry about your skill level yet, just pick what you WANT to be and work at the aspects of that position. You can always catch better, throw better, block better - but something you cant change is your desire to do it.

The missing stats - height and weight are key as you need to know how much more you will grow. You want to play a position where you will be effective in a couple of years. Also - what do you prefer playing? If you like the LB position and love to hit then still with the Def. Careers last longer as a hitter vs being the one getting crunched. If you love being a back and are big enough to take the punishment - then play there. You'll always play better in a position you enjoy.

you are a linebacker through and through. not small enuff for a WR and not tall enough for a TE. ur may be a d lineman but i would go with a Middle Linebacker or maybe Defensive tackle

lb, awarness is very inportant for all positions, you get to hit people, and you got the body strength to fight ing the trenches, also with very good catching you could cover the rb, te,and sometimes wr and that catching leads to picks

Tight End, or maybe if you wanted to play defense a defensive end or linebacker.

Tight end on offense but like me your kinda short for a reciever....... possibly fullback.....

middle linebacker defense.or strong safety

FB would be my first pick, but don't forget abou RB. also DL wouldn't be bad, but it would be better if you were taller. LB would be a good thought.

tight end i whould have to say not calling you fat but thats a little little to light for catching but just right for runing blocking and catching
