Heavenly-I know what you mean. I visited Hollywood last summer and the only pictures we took of the Hollywood sign are all smogged up..

Ummm....this is hard for me to answer as I live in Hollywood and I see famous things & people all the time (not proud of it it's just the way it is unfortunately in this town).
I can however tell you the best Famous thing I see everyday (though it doesn't always look as good). I love looking at the Hollywood sign on a clear, blue skied day (which unfortunately in LA doesn't happen very often). It's so beautful to see something so beautifully unnatural surrounded by the beauty of the natural.

There was Niagra Falls that is truly awesome, the Grand Canyon, the giant sequoias in Californias National Forests, Half Dome and Angel falls in Yosemite, the grave site of Billy The Kid in New Mexico, The painted desert/petrified forest in Arizona, The Alamo in San Antonio and The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

The high tech military jets from Lukes Air Force base. What power! They cost many millions each. My daughter saw one crash into the mountains near hear a few years back and I had to think about the mega bucks burning into the hillside. The pilot was okay - he parachuted out.
