I would try to attend the Chamber of commerce meetings and get to know some of the people at the bigger corporations on a personal basis. Ask this way-Hi my name is ____Who do you know who might be looking for someone in MIS? I'm planning a job change soon and this is my field of specialty. Then Hush. Let them think and maybe give you a name of someone. Ask them for their card, the correct spelling or the other person's name on the back of the card (shows you are detailed!) and then ask if you can use their name. This will open the door wide when you call the person that they suggested. Be sure to mention the name of the person who refferred you. Hi this is_____. _____ said that I should give you a call. They said that you might be looking for someone for your MIS department. I wanted to be sure and followup immediately. Also send a nice-hand written Thank-you note. To everyone afterwards!

I'm a little curious as to why you say "I have EVEN tried entry level positions" - if you don't have any experience, you ARE entry level.

Finding a job in the field with a degree almost five years old can be tough - IS is a field that changes fast so your degree might be looked at as pretty outdated. Have you considered going back to school for a masters degree?

The only other suggestion I have is to try for ANY position in a large IS department, get to know the people, and express your interest in moving into a professional position.

Good luck.
