sure its a cool idea for the kids to be on TV but i think it destroys the meaning of LITTLE LEAGUE baseball. the idea that its on TV gets to both the coaches and players heads very easily. Plus, i dont see why anyone accept the parents, friends and families are even interested and those groups are usually there anyway. so if you disagree with me, please explain why you think its fine for the LLWS to be televised, thank you

The LLWS on TV is very cool for the teams that get to play. However, with ESPN and ABC dictating when the games will be played, it is a tremendous burden for the hundreds of thousands of children who don't. The seasons usually start in mid March. All-Star teams cannot be announced before June 15th for this level of play. District tournaments have to be played before teams advance to State, Sectional (in some places), Regional and finally the LLWS. I know in our District they have between 7 - 10 days to play their tournaments before having to leave for state. There is only one team from each league in the district that can enter the tournament. If that league has 5 teams with 12 players each that is 60 players. The all star teams can carry a maximum of 14 players. That leaves 46 players at home not playing baseball. I know, "why don't the others keep playing" is what I get. Lets face it, when all stars roll around, all of your volunteers seem to want to be on the coaching staff, have their kids on the team, or just follow the teams. There is no one left to coach the remaining kids.

What I am saying is there is too much emphasis put on all-stars to begin with. Then you have the TV people dictating when your regular season has to end so Little League will fit into THEIR schedule. Little League is for the children. It is the best game in town. Let them play a 20 -30 game schedule and forget the all-star tournaments. I know Little League Baseball, Inc. frowns very heavily at a league who asks to not participate in the all-star tournaments. All-stars are for the few outstanding. "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few". Just my 2 cents.

Oh, and by the way, I am a 6 term past president, player agent, manager, umpire and volunteer of my local league. I am now currently on the district staff. My kids came all the way through Little League and have graduated. I am a past coach and manager of all-star teams also. So please don't think I am a Little League hater or a mad parent of a kid who didn't make the team. I just want ALL of the kids to learn the game, have the same opportunities, and most of all.......HAVE FUN.

I don't see a problem with it, but think it should go back to the way they used to do it. Televise the championship game only. I see no need to show so many games, particularly the ones at the regional level. Having been on a team that got within one game of going to Williamsport, I can tell you the pressure is already too much for most kids to handle. And our game wasn't televised, and probably had a crowd of maybe a few hundred people at most. Let them have fun, and not worry so much about the fact that there maybe millions of people watching. Once they get into the championship game, there nerves will have lessened somewhat, and the idea of TV shouldn't be as frightening to them.

I love watching the little league world series and am happy that it will be televised. A lot of people cannot go to the games and by it being televised then that gives us a chance to watch it.
These young players are focused on the game and not being on television. Their main goal is to play the best they can and to win the Little League World Series championship.
Each time the LLWS is on, a young child dreams about how he/she wishes he/she was playing and then tries his/her best the following year to make his/her dream come true.

I agree with you that the Little League crap should not be televised for many reasons. For 1 reason, it gets boring every year watching some team of 40 year old Asian midgets posing as children beating little American kids. As far as the American little league teams that make it to television go, they are all hand picked and put together by rich businessmen who pay the kids and their corrupt parents to play so they can use the teams to market their businesses and jack themselves up. Little League baseball has been exposed as a thoroughly corrupt organization for years and with injuries among young players on the rise due to the commercialization of Little League baseball, it is time to take it off of television.

The Little League world series is big business for ESPN and I have no problem with it being televised. The managers that take their teams that far are good enough that they can put the event in proper prospective for the kids and I believe it is a great experience for them. The negative issues that pop up now and then are so few and far between that it is a non issue.

I think it puts a lot of pressure on these little kids but its gotta be so cool for them. Honestly its probably one of the biggest things of their lives. How many of these kids will ever get to play a game on TV again?

My friend played in the Pontiac Silverdome where the Detroit Lions use to play for the football state championship. Even though he was only in for like1 play it was really cool. Its just a once in a life time thing that he did and almost nobody else got the chance for.

LLWS should be televised.

It gives the kids a chance to feel important.

When you win a LLWS world series you dont fell as important as winning the LLWS in front of millions of people.

If you televise the LLWS kids wont feel like just kids.

It doesn't need to be on tv. It's not like it's really great baseball. Personally, if I want to watch a 12 year old play I'll drive a few hours and go watch my nephew play. Also, another suggestion - move the fences back for cryin out loud. When I was younger we stopped playing on fields that size when we were 10.

Honestly, I think it should be televised. I enjoy watching the games. I used to play hockey on national television when I was 12. I felt there was no pressure with the camera there. It gives them an opportunity to show the world what kids are capable of, if they set their minds to something.
