That is not what the Fairness Doctrine is. It was in effect from 1949 to 1986. All it did was make the news much more informative and factual and required that both sides of an issue be told. Many people feel the media is controlled now and complain about right and left leaning media. Now somebody suggests a way to fix that and everyone screams about it. You are right though, it would be and was federal control of the media. The news was much more accurate and less inflammatory. I'd go so far as to say, it was boring.

This site and the close to hysterical sounding questions about some of the candidates makes me wonder just how much power do some of you think the President has?
There's those who love to predict that Obama's really a Muslim and that we are all doomed to wearing burkhas if he's elected. Yep, you bet. Congress won't have a thing to say about tearing up that Constitution lol.
Then there's the whole socialist/communist, Hillary/all the Democrats, hysterics that insist they are going to turn us all magically into a socialist country. Did people turn this stupid when Social Security, welfare, and Medicaid came into being? Did they predict that it was all a socialist conspiracy and that before we knew it there would be a statue of Karl Marx in Washington D.C.?
The President really doesn't have that much autonomous power. A political science class might help explain all that. Or simply a quick read of the Constitution.

Who owns the media?

Anyway to your question. (if its a serious question) I have not seen any indication that any of the above 3 would that. The media can be "influenced" by all parties without going to those extemes, so I think not.
